Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
You address all three requested points clearly. The opening reminds Mr Singh that you met on a flight from Toronto to India, and you add useful context about the date, airline and shared journey. You identify the role as an HR position and support your suitability with a postgraduate qualification and two years’ recruitment experience, including relevant skills. The purpose of contacting him is clear throughout, and the request for an opportunity and offer to send your résumé complete the letter appropriately. To make the response even stronger, keep details precise and avoid adding information that does not advance the application; for example, the festival detail is less important than specifying the HR role or how your experience could benefit his restaurants.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you recall the meeting, describe the conversation, state your interest, and explain your qualifications before closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Since,” and “Thus” make relationships between ideas visible. This gives the reader a coherent route through the message. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear, particularly “Well, it has been a week we have met” and “Dint of 2 years experience,” which interrupt the flow. The first two paragraphs also repeat the meeting context. To improve progression, use more natural transitions and make each paragraph perform one distinct purpose without restating information.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to a professional letter, including “postgraduated,” “screening,” “interviewing,” and “communication,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to limit precision: examples include “Acutally,” “comapny,” “resoucers,” “recuiter,” and “approriate.” Some expressions are also unnatural or overly formal, such as “bestow me a great opportunity” and “successful personality.” These issues make the writing less fluent and occasionally require the reader to interpret your meaning. Focus on accurate spelling and natural professional collocations, such as “offer me an opportunity” and “successful businessman,” rather than choosing elaborate wording that does not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a reason clause in “Since I am postgraduated…” and a relative clause in “which went India from Toronto.” The main message remains understandable, but errors occur frequently in verb forms, sentence construction, articles and punctuation. For example, “we have met each other a week ago” uses an unsuitable tense, while “we have sit together” has an incorrect verb form; “I am writing this letter to you remind” is missing a grammatical link. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense forms for the journey and meeting, and check each sentence for a complete structure. Greater control of these basics would make your varied sentences easier to follow.
