Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You make a clear attempt to contact the businessman about work and include relevant background, especially your experience as a project manager and your work with clients. However, the task is only partly addressed: the job you want is not stated clearly. You mention a “job at one of your marketing company,” but the prompt describes restaurants, and you do not specify a role such as restaurant manager or marketing position within his restaurant chain. The meeting details are also inconsistent: you refer to “last weak” and flying to Washington, then give a specific date and say you met at the airport. Explain the meeting accurately, name the position you seek, and connect your experience directly to its requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter has a recognisable opening, several paragraphs, and a closing, and the ideas about meeting the businessman and your work experience are grouped broadly by topic. However, progression is not always clear: the first paragraph introduces the application, meeting, and move to Washington, while the next repeats the meeting details and business discussion. Connections such as “Also” and “along with this” are used mechanically, and the relationship between your nervousness, his story, and your suitability is difficult to follow. Improve the sequence by using one paragraph for the meeting and purpose, one for the job and relevant qualifications, and a concise closing. Clearer links between each qualification and the role would make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for a job application, including “project manager,” “clients,” “strategies,” and “consideration,” so the reader can identify your general purpose and experience. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. For example, “apply the job” should be “apply for the job,” and “shared the flight seats” does not naturally describe sitting beside someone on a plane. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “weak,” “comforatble,” and “Unfortuntely.” Use precise language for the restaurant role and your qualifications, and proofread spelling and collocations to make the application sound more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including “I worked as project manager in toronto biggest company UNC,” and the reader can generally understand the main message. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in articles, verb forms, prepositions, and punctuation can interrupt reading. For example, “I am writing this letter to apply the job” needs “apply for a job,” while “I am looking forward hearing from you” needs “looking forward to hearing.” The sentence beginning “On 25 october” is also a fragment, and “I worked as project manager” is missing an article. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea each, then check articles, verb patterns, capitalization, and sentence boundaries.
