Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main purpose by asking about a job and identifying finance as your preferred area. You also give relevant evidence of suitability: an MBA, a specialisation in accounting and finance, and six months of experience. However, the meeting details are incomplete: you mention a plane journey a month ago but do not say where you were travelling or provide a more specific reminder of the occasion. The request for a job is also repeated without explaining what duties or role you seek. The response is 139 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum. Develop the job request and add a specific detail about the journey to cover the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable sequence: it opens with the purpose, recalls the conversation, presents your qualifications, and ends with a request. This gives the reader a basic sense of organisation. However, the progression is not always smooth. The opening says you are writing to remind the businessman, while the next paragraph repeats that you met during the journey. Connect the meeting, his offer, and your preferred role more clearly, and use separate paragraphs for the reminder, qualifications, and closing request. Linking words such as “Moreover” and “Additionally” are attempted, but they sometimes make the letter feel mechanical rather than showing a clear relationship between ideas. A more direct sequence and clearer referencing would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general message, including “MBA degree,” “specialization in accounting and finance,” and “finance department.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make the letter less clear or less professional: “resturant,” “finacial,” “oppurtunity,” and “preffered.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “remember you about plane journey” and “managed the financial responsibilities properly.” Choose more precise expressions for the job you want and your previous duties, and check spelling carefully. For example, “remind you of our conversation” and “handled financial responsibilities effectively” would sound more natural and appropriate in a formal job enquiry.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to link ideas using “Moreover” and “so.” Errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction, and they sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “i had meet you” should be “I met you” or “I had met you,” while “plane journey which i had travelled with you” needs a clearer structure, such as “the plane journey we took together.” The sentence beginning “I have specialization” also needs an article: “I have a specialisation.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly after full stops and around commas. Practise accurate past-tense forms and build longer sentences from reliable grammatical patterns.
