Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the area we need more space to billed a new home but no space available, only countryside have space, in individual people are believe we need to protect our village to build a new building. I am totally agree with this opinion, lets discus briefly in this assay.

In the one hand, If we build new home in our country area it effect on global warming like burning more fossil fuels for electricity, transportation, and industry. This all come from tree so more deforestation are involved and It was effect on globally like melting ice cap and rising sea level, loss of biodiversity and lots of health problem. if we need to balance we need to transition to renewable energy, strick environmental law and need to protect our country side area.

In the other hand, we know population are growing so we need more space and most of the people are like to live in the downtown so the area was so crowded and no space so lots of people are moved to countryside for the crowded space.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 184 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments are underdeveloped and the conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'To conclusion Iam disagree with'. The task requires a balanced discussion and a clear, supported opinion, but the lack of length prevents you from fully exploring the implications of building in the countryside versus urban expansion. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with specific examples and ensure your conclusion fully restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'In the one hand' and 'In the other hand', though these are used incorrectly (the standard phrase is 'On the one hand'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the structure is disjointed, particularly the final paragraph which is unfinished. The logical flow is hindered by the lack of development and the abrupt ending. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence and a concluding thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'billed' instead of 'build', 'assay' instead of 'essay', and 'strick' instead of 'strict'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about environmental impact or urban planning. You rely on basic terms like 'new home' and 'space'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development, sustainability, and environmental conservation, while paying closer attention to accurate spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'only countryside have space' (missing articles/subject-verb agreement), 'I am totally agree' (incorrect verb form), and 'It was effect on globally' (incorrect tense and word form). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence variety. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Practice writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions like 'although', 'because', or 'which' to demonstrate better grammatical control.
