Student answer (Band 7.0)
In contemporary era, increasing population has raised a concern about shelter which have lead to serious argument about whether the new homes should be build in countryside areas or this area should be preserved. I believe that the countryside needs to protected and only required amount of this area should be used to fulfill human needs.
One major reason to safeguard countryside area is to protect the wildlife. Nowadays many wild animals are extincting because humans are interfere into their areas. Additionally, some animals have started to enter human populated areas since they have left with very few or no forests to live in. Animal intervention in urban areas is risk to everyone's life. As a result, green areas need to be saved.
Another reason to not use the countryside area is that it is not always required. Mankind ought to first make use of all the available urban land in appropriate ways. Recent surveys show that many people in the world own multiple houses and some properties are even unoccupied, Moreover, few houses are even in conflicts which makes them of no use. Therefore, before thinking of degrading natural lands, solutions to turn abandoned land in useful land should be considered. Countryside area should not be an option to fulfill human desires, nevertheless, it should only be a choice if it is needed and there is no other available source.
In conclusion, countryside area needs to be protected for survival of both mankind and wildlife. Natural area should not be degraded to just fulfill human wants to own more when there are still some homes which are not fully occupied.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for protecting the countryside, such as wildlife preservation and the potential for better urban land management. The ideas are extended and supported with logical arguments. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more specific; for instance, instead of mentioning 'recent surveys' in general, you could refer to a specific context or a hypothetical scenario to make the argument more compelling. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'this area' which could be more precisely linked to the preceding noun. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'contemporary', 'extincting' (though this is a misuse of the verb form), and 'intervention'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'extincting' instead of 'becoming extinct' and 'degrading natural lands' which is slightly unnatural in this context. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these occasional errors indicate a need for more precise collocation. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but further refinement would enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'have lead' (should be 'has led'), 'needs to protected' (should be 'needs to be protected'), and 'humans are interfere' (should be 'humans are interfering'). These errors occur frequently but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice constructions. While you attempt complex sentences, the accuracy of these structures needs to be more consistent to reach a higher band score.
