Student answer (Band 6.5)

There are some basic necessity of humans, and having a home is one of them. I personally believe if society needs to build it than every individual should support it whether it is in countryside or in urban areas. In this eassy I will not only discuss my point of view but also mention benefits of homes at rural areas.

To begin with, it is the hot topic that protecting the villages are really crucial. However, society is for individuals. If building new homes in the areas where society has space is possible than it will be the best use of that areas. In addition to that, some companies can earn well and employment rates will get a boom. Another merit of this is that private firms can grow such as schools, sports complex and medical centers.

Moreover, the value and price of lands will increase that belong to small towns. citizens of the nation can start their work such as cafes, hotels and grocery stores if they will start to live there. In India, for example, there was a city called Mohali which was not developed enough a decade ago. it was a semi urban area before industries and homes were build there. Now it is famous city and popular for IT sector and students come from different states to study and to live there.

To conclude, it is vital to build home for citizens who are paying taxes to the country. Furthermore, building residential apartments especially in backward areas can help not only to people but also to Government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of building homes in the countryside. The ideas are relevant, such as economic growth and infrastructure development. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While the example of Mohali is helpful, the argument could be strengthened by acknowledging the opposing view—protecting the countryside—more thoroughly to provide a more balanced discussion. The conclusion is a bit brief and repeats points already made rather than synthesizing the argument. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task but lacks the depth of analysis required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with,' 'In addition to that,' and 'Moreover,' which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'residential apartments,' 'infrastructure,' and 'employment rates.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'basic necessity of humans' (should be 'basic necessities') and 'get a boom' (should be 'experience a boom'). The range is sufficient to communicate ideas, but it lacks the precision and sophistication of higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('There are some basic necessity'), article usage ('at rural areas'), and verb tense/form ('homes were build'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors in capitalization and sentence boundaries. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
