Student answer (Band 7.0)

In some locations, new houses are required, but the only available land to construct them is rural area. A few individuals believe that new homes should not be made there and that area should be protected. In my opinion, I strongly agree with this statement. I will elaborate on this topic in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, a lot of citizens have to migrate from their houses if such construction is initiated. Humans have a strong bond with their residence, as they have spent their childhood there and made memories with families. Hence if any kind of building work stated there, It will hurt their feelings. Moreover, villages play an important role in society. If they are destroyed there will be no difference between rural and urban area. For instance, villages are often appreciated for their peaceful environment and less traffic. If more property is built, more traffic will be there which will further disturb the quietness of such area.

Additionally, rural areas are used mostly for irrigation purpose. different types of crops are grown in the farms. Which is a livelihood for those who live in that areas. To introduce new areas for residence, these farms will be destroyed which will effect the life of families living in that area. For example, if cultivating land is removed, farmers will lose their jobs. Consequently, their loved ones have to survive as no food will be there to consume and no other option available to earn money.

As far as my opinion is concerned, I believe that new houses should be constructed in the empty spaces available in the cities and in place of old buildings those are vacant from past years. Countryside will become more like urban area if homes are introduced there. Also a lot of community areas will suffer from such actions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the emotional impact of displacement and the economic consequences for farmers are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat simplistic. For instance, the claim that 'there will be no difference between rural and urban area' is a broad generalization that could be better supported with more nuanced reasoning. While the position is clear, the supporting examples could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-focused on the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the social impact to the economic impact, and finally to a proposed solution. Referencing is mostly clear, though some sentences, such as 'Which is a livelihood for those who live in that areas', are grammatically fragmented, which slightly disrupts the flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student uses basic terms like 'new houses', 'empty spaces', and 'hurt their feelings'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'irrigation purpose' (should be 'agricultural purposes') and 'effect the life' (should be 'affect'). While the meaning is always clear, the lexical range is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language that would demonstrate a more sophisticated command of English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the rural area'), pluralization ('in that areas'), and sentence fragments ('Which is a livelihood...'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency also show occasional slips, such as 'if any kind of building work stated there'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
