Student answer (Band 6.5)
In many places, new homes are needed, but the only space available for constructing them is in the rural area. Few people believe it is more crucial to protect the rural areas and not build new homes there. I would like to discuss my opinion in following paragraphs.
Firstly, homes play vital role in people’s life as this is essential part for surviving. Construction of new homes became necessary but it can pose serious threat to rural areas. However, countryside can be used for housing due to plenty of land. Usually, unique technologies should be developed to ensure proper housing as well preventing rural areas.
Secondly, some people want to protect the rural areas from being constructed. Rural areas are essential for regulating environmental scenarios as they are consistent with the local climate, greenery and fresh air. These areas work like a boon for the humans as well as an animals. Building new homes in countryside can lead to many difficulties such as, lack of fresh airflow in surroundings.
In my opinion, this statement is true about protecting countryside from construction. Nowadays, having open areas can give many facilities for developing countries in positive terms. Moreover, home construction is significant and can be achieved with proper planning and management of infrastructure skills. Generally, urban areas are also dependent upon rural areas for adapting programs related to health services and natural phenomenon’s. Countryside acts like backbone for huge corporations as it provides various benefits related to infrastructure formation. Both housing and rural areas are fundamental factors for attaining prosperity in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the tension between housing needs and environmental protection. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'unique technologies' is vague and not explained. The position is generally clear, but the argument lacks depth and specific examples. The conclusion attempts to balance both sides, but the connection between 'urban areas' and 'adapting programs' is unclear and lacks logical support. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples, such as mentioning specific urban planning strategies like high-density apartment blocks or brownfield site redevelopment, to better support your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'In following paragraphs' or 'In my opinion, this statement is true'. The logical progression between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, making some transitions feel forced. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one rather than simply listing points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'regulating environmental scenarios' and 'infrastructure skills'. The word choice is often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'essential' and 'important'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and environmental conservation, and ensure that your word choices are contextually accurate and natural-sounding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('an animals', 'the rural area') and pluralization ('natural phenomenon’s'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Construction of new homes became necessary but it can pose serious threat'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
