Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the fast growing world, everywhere your eyes go there is just construction no empty areas are left or none of the areas have good number of trees with which population of the surrounding can get fresh air. As along with the construction, population is growing too so the place for residence is always at the edge of extinction, but that mean to construct residence in the countryside.

In my city where I reside I feel like the residence areas are so full that if we want to buy or rent house or apartment its very difficult to find one. The city is now planning to build more residence in countryside, but according to me countryside should not constructed it should be leaved for the purpose it meant for. For instance, we got to know from recent results of city survey regarding population health and we noticed AQI (Air Quality Index) has increased to 24% which was 21% last year. This increased the risk of people inhaling polluted air and get sick.

Apart from this, countryside have few areas where they have built the systems for water drainage and parks for kids entertainment. Now if they construct apartments or houses in that area it will become difficult for the families to reside over there as will be no space for the kids for entertainment and also For example, according to last year rain it was flood like situation with just 3 days of continuous rain, what if there will be no area for water to go.

So in my opinion countryside should be protected from construction as that is also the important part of city which plays vital role in many ways as we have seen in essay.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building in the countryside. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as health concerns and environmental risks like flooding, the arguments are not fully extended. For instance, the mention of AQI statistics is a good attempt at support, but the explanation of how construction directly causes these specific changes is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more specific, well-integrated example that clearly links the cause to the effect.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this' and 'For instance', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt, such as the transition into the example about rain. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'as we have seen in essay' at the end, which does not refer to anything previously established. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'Air Quality Index' and 'residence areas'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'at the edge of extinction' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'countryside should not constructed'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context. Expanding your range of synonyms for common words like 'build' or 'area' would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb forms ('countryside should not constructed'), subject-verb agreement, and missing articles. For example, 'population of the surrounding can get fresh air' is grammatically incomplete. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb, and pay closer attention to the use of articles and prepositions.
