Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, population is increasing rapidly to meet the demand it is necessary to build the residence for them. Some individuals believe that to build the building only space available is farmland. Whereas, other argues that it is very important to save the countryside for source of food and others not to build the houses. I opine with the second statement and explain my point of views in the ensuing paragraphs.

To begin with, Farmland has beneficial for humans, livestock, and source of income. Farmers are growing vegetables, fruits and flowers at countryside which will help people to feed. Farmers are take care of their livestock over there, which help humans to get a drink milk. Farmers are the one who is take care of countryside land for them it is a source of income also this the reason for them to survive and help others.

Moreover, I do not think to build a home we should use countryside rather than that we can use new construction methods to build multistorey buildings in city are which is good for public easy to get everything handy and more scope of employments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 201 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is incomplete and the arguments remain underdeveloped. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the supporting points in the body paragraphs lack depth and specific examples. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning and ensure the essay is fully completed. The failure to reach the minimum length is a major constraint that prevents a higher score in this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete conclusion. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the pronoun 'them' is used ambiguously. The abrupt ending of the final paragraph severely disrupts the coherence of the overall response. Improving the logical connection between sentences and ensuring a complete, well-structured conclusion will help improve this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'Farmers are take care of their livestock' and 'city has for busy and vibrant environment'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varied vocabulary related to urban planning and environmental protection.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('population is increasing', 'Farmers are take care') and incorrect sentence structures ('city has for busy and vibrant environment'). The range of structures is limited, with a reliance on simple sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. You should focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures.
