Student answer (Band 7.0)

In today's rapidly evolving world , the issue of increasing demand for housing has become a matter of considerable public interests ,prompting widespread debate regarding its impact on green spaces. While some people firmly believe that it is more crucial to save the countryside to protect the natural environment. I strongly agree with this belief that building new homes often reduces the amount of available open space.

First of all, is is true that people need more houses to live but by constructing new buildings in the countryside affect the wildlife which will create disaster for animals who live in forests. By cutting trees, clean air and pollution will increased which will harm the people's health. It can cause several diseases related to heart, kidneys and so on. In today era, due to increased population rate public need more clean air, water and good living standards.

The only solution to tackle with this problem government should encourage high density housing and investing in urban lands. They should have to build apartments, flats to fulfil the need of new homes. Government should build the policies and standard how the buildings should build so that more and more people live in one building. Government should have take action to preserve natural habitats.

To conclude, I firmly maintain that countryside should be protected because it preserve wildlife, farmland and natural beauty. Instead of building new homes in rural areas, government should make better use of existing urban land by constructing apartments. This approach can provide housing without damaging the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for protecting the countryside, such as environmental impact and wildlife preservation, and offered a logical alternative solution: high-density urban development. The ideas are generally well-developed, though some points, such as the specific health impacts of pollution, could be expanded with more nuance to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the prompt, demonstrating a good understanding of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'In today's era', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions could be more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this problem', 'this approach') is used more consistently to connect ideas across sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rapidly evolving', 'widespread debate', and 'natural habitats'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'public interests' (should be 'interest') and 'tackle with this problem' (should be 'tackle this problem'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly repetitive or imprecise. To move to a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('is is true', 'pollution will increased') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Government should have take action'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic verb tense consistency and ensuring that modal verbs are followed by the correct verb forms.
