Student answer (Band 6.5)

Due to rapid increase in population, housing demands are increasing in market. New houses are required for people in urban cities and people are moving outside to cities due to the lack of available space. I feel this trend has positive impact on society because it helps to decrease the population of cities resulting in slow down the inflation rates.

In cities, The rents for flats are very high because of density of population in one area. Individuals prefer to stay in Urban parts due to many reasons such as employment, child education and better living standards. All these reasons are the main cause behind high inflation rates in housing market. For instance, According to 2022 survey which was published in Daily Baskar newspaper, Every year 10%of villagers population is moving to urban areas, on average basis to find better job opportunities. Therefore, It is evident that migration of people from cities to countryside will help to lower the prices for houses. Consequently, stabilizing the financial situation of individuals.

Moreover, movement of individuals towards countryside will helps the area to develop. Normally, The land outsides the urban area are used to dispose the garbage by some people. If people start using that land to build their homes, it will improve the infrastructure of that area. Furthermore, the construction of new home is much cheaper in countryside as compare to urban area. To illustrate it, In 2009, The prices of land area in cities was 15% higher than countryside area. So, It clearly states, new buildings on countryside area will not destruct the land.

To conclude, I would like to say construction of houses will actually protect the countryside area by improving the infrastructure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that building in the countryside is beneficial. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as reducing urban inflation and improving rural infrastructure, the arguments lack depth. For instance, the claim that building homes in the countryside 'protects' it by improving infrastructure is a weak argument that is not fully explained or supported by logical reasoning. To improve, ensure that your arguments are more robust and directly address the counter-argument regarding the environmental impact of building on greenfield sites, which is the core of the debate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Therefore, It is evident that...'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow due to punctuation errors and repetitive sentence structures. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inflation rates', 'infrastructure', and 'migration'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'destruct the land' (should be 'destroy' or 'damage') and 'on average basis'. Some phrasing is also repetitive, particularly the use of 'urban area' and 'countryside'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the sophistication of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('The rents', 'the density', 'the construction'), subject-verb agreement errors ('movement... will helps'), and inconsistent capitalization (e.g., 'Urban', 'The'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
