Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many individuals believe that countryside is the only area left to build new homes to fulfil the need. On the other hand, some argue that protecting countryside is more important rather than building new homes there. As per my perspective, although, homes are necessary for everyone, people should not use countryside area for them because it will put bad impact on it due to risking animals and plants along with, country's economy.
To commence with, building new homes in countryside will destroy a lot of animal's homes and greenery. To elaborate it, when people will start construction of the new houses than they have need to cut down plenty of trees which are the home for thousands of animals along with this, the greenery will vanish by building new buildings. For example, a survey was conducted in 2010 in India, which revealed that a particular area of countryside was destroyed completely due to building new buildings. As a result, many animals became homeless and area lost its useful plants.
Furthermore, the economy of the country will effect. This is because, countryside areas are the main attraction of the tourists in any nation. Moving ahead, thousands of people travel in different countries to see their beauty as well as, countryside areas are the places which hold the culture and history of any country. To instance, a report shows that India has lost 60% of tourism rate in Bihar because government demolish countryside and made city on it. Thus, authorities of Bihar faced economy crisis due to lack of tourism.
To conclude, undoubtedly, I believe that saving countryside is more crucial because of its tourism attraction and saving animals and plants to maintain ecosystem as well as, environment safety.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against building in the countryside. The ideas are relevant, focusing on environmental impact and economic consequences related to tourism. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments rely on generalisations and the examples provided, such as the specific report on Bihar, lack sufficient detail or context to be fully convincing. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more nuanced exploration of the counter-argument or a deeper analysis of the housing crisis mentioned in the introduction. Overall, it meets the requirements of the task but remains at a basic level of development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude', though some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, although the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the environmental impact and the economic argument is functional but could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the structure of an IELTS essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinions clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'ecosystem', 'environment safety', and 'economy crisis'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and collocation errors, such as 'put bad impact on it', 'tourism rate', and 'made city on it'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise word choices. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more natural collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the countryside'), subject-verb agreement ('economy of the country will effect'), and pluralisation ('animal's homes'). Some sentence constructions are slightly clunky, such as 'when people will start construction of the new houses than they have need to cut down'. Despite these errors, the reader is rarely confused, and the basic grammar is functional. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for minor errors would improve the score.
