Student answer (Band 7.0)

it is evident that due to rise in a population new homes are needed. But the space available for construction is only countryside. Some people argue that construction is significant to meet the housing demands. While, my opinion related to this is that we must preserve natural beauty of rural areas and not ruin it by making homes there. The reasons for this are discussed below with relevant examples.

Firstly, building new homes will led to deforestation. In countryside there are many regions which are mostly covered with forest. This helps to maintain the beauty of that particular area. It is also home to many wildlife species and living source of people living in that area. If government decides to build new homes there then they have to clear the forest area. Therefore, it would give rise to new issues such as people can do protest to save their environment living in that area. For example, In Bangladesh government decides to fall down trees to build new resorts. Later, then superiors faced anxious behavior of people living there.

Moreover, sooner or later like cities villages would also become crowded areas. If more houses are build in rural areas then to meet the demands of public, shops and other facilities may be also build nearby. As a result, the beauty of the villages would be totally demolished due to densely populated areas. Furthermore, foreign visits to countryside would be reduced. The economic growth of government would be minimized because visitors who support rural area will stop visiting. For instance, Kerala is a beautiful countryside place where most people work as guide for visitors. Imagine turning theses areas into modern building would destroy the beauty of these areas.

To conclude, it is undeniable that construction is needed to meet todays demand, but not at the cost of loosing the breathtaking view of rural areas. In my opinion, it is required to preserve the rural areas so that future generation may also experience the beauty of countryside. And rural areas play crucial role in supporting our biodiversity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. You have identified the core conflict between housing needs and environmental preservation. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on biodiversity and the potential loss of tourism revenue. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Bangladesh is a bit vague and could be more effectively integrated to support the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and specific, well-explained examples that directly link back to the central thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use transition signals such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some of the cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical way, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of deforestation and the mention of public protests in the first body paragraph feels a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biodiversity', 'demolished', and 'construction'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'led to deforestation' (should be 'lead to') and 'fall down trees' (should be 'cut down' or 'fell'). Additionally, 'anxious behavior' is not the most precise collocation for describing public reaction to government policy. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise, academic collocations and synonyms would help elevate the lexical sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing, e.g., 'due to rise in a population'), subject-verb agreement ('more houses are build'), and verb tense consistency. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'While, my opinion related to this is that...'. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding article usage and verb forms. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher band score.
