Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern world, more and more buildings are built by the contractors. In the urban areas new houses are needed for families and poor people because they cannot afford the countryside's high prices. While other people think that protecting our rural areas is most important nowadays. In this essay, I will discuss both the views and give my opinion.
On the one hand, constructing new homes is the major key of modernization. Many rural areas need to be redeveloped, but governments are not focused on rebuilding the houses; they are majorly focused on the countryside to make new properties. Moreover, most of the authorities cut the environment and trees for their homes and wellness. As a result, natural disasters are happening, like global warming. For instance, weather forecasts face major impact on Delhi's air quality, whose index is more than 350; that is the worst example of harm to the environment.
On the other hand, rebuilt apartments in the countryside help to increase the economy and financial conditions for the nation, such as more people wanting to stay in the city area and not in the village, so they cut the trees on the land and built the apartments and villas, which attract the rich populations to invest their money in the properties.
In my opinion, redevelopment is the solution for the built apartments, but making new houses on countryside land is very harmful to the environment and people's lives. Legal authorities should make sure of the environmental causes and major consequences of it.
In conclusion, governments only focus on how to make money for the globe rather than thinking about environmental safety and weather.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you state your position in the introduction, the arguments in the body paragraphs are somewhat contradictory and lack clarity. For example, the second paragraph discusses the negative impact of construction on the environment, but the third paragraph seems to argue that building in the countryside increases the economy, without clearly linking this back to your personal opinion or the core conflict of the prompt. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported argument that directly reinforces your stated position. The conclusion also introduces a new point about 'making money for the globe' rather than summarizing your main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt, and the connection between the ideas within the paragraphs is occasionally confusing. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Moreover,' but they are sometimes used mechanically or to link ideas that do not logically follow one another. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'new houses' and 'countryside.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'cut the environment' and 'major key of modernization,' which sound unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, environmental sustainability, and economic development. Using synonyms and more precise academic terminology will help you demonstrate a stronger command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of your writing. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'buildings are built by the contractors'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'weather forecasts face major impact'). While your meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and pluralization, and try to vary your sentence structure by using more complex subordinating conjunctions.
