Student answer (Band 6.0)
Housing crisis is major concern now days. Many population is dealing with this problem. Major reason for this problem can be rising population and less space for constructing new buildings because of growing number of industries in cities. Only spaces left are in countryside but some people argue that protecting nature i equally important than building new buildings.
To start with, In cities to fulfill housing need government have to cut down trees to make buildings and it is major reason for rising pollution in cities. Housing issues cannot be ignored as prices of property have grown sharply in many cities which make it difficult for people to afford houses. This is a major reason peoples are now started construction in rural areas which means forests are cut down and agricultural lands are used to construct new buildings which is a great thread to biodiversity as rural areas provide habitat to wildlife helps in agriculture and many more.
In My opinion a balanced approch is needed so that country sides are also protected and housing shortage can be minimised. However in cities who are facing extreme housing crisis construction in rural areas cannot be ignored. In adiition Government can make policies like constructions are only allowed on land that have low agricultural productivity, Banning cutting certain forests.
in conclusion, By balancing environmental conversation with responsible urban planning this crisis can be solved and bio diversity can be saved. Both government and public should work together so that everyone can get housing and wildlife can be saved as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the conflict between housing needs and environmental protection. You clearly state your position in the third paragraph, advocating for a balanced approach. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the housing crisis and environmental concerns, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the point about 'low agricultural productivity' land is a good suggestion but lacks elaboration. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main point is supported by a clear, logical explanation that directly relates to the prompt's core tension.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the housing crisis and the impact on biodiversity. The use of cohesive devices is adequate but could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall progression of ideas. Ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the next to enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biodiversity', 'urban planning', and 'agricultural productivity'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'Many population is dealing with' instead of 'A large part of the population', and 'great thread' instead of 'great threat'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Many population is', 'peoples are now started') and article usage ('in cities to fulfill housing need'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and capitalization errors. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
