Student answer (Band 6.5)
Housing crisis are the one of the major issues now a days, due to lack of available land in the cities. While some people believe that new construction should be done in the countryside, others believe it is essential to preserve remote locations and suggest avoid building homes there. I believe building homes in the countryside can solve many problems of urbanisation and I favour such developments.
First and foremost advantage of developing a new building at rural area is its' cost effectiveness. Land prices in the town in comparatively lower than cities. Moreover, Accommodation is one of the major expanses of people living in the urban places. If relatively cheaper options are made available to them in the remote areas, people will choose to locate there over the cities. An affordable homes can save big chunk of individual's money which can be utilise to raise their quality of life. A typical example of this is using such money to engage in hobbies or to travel to different tourist locations.
In addition to that, there are some other benefits as well such as growth of health-care, education system, economy and employment opportunities. Increasing population in the rural areas will eventually stimulate development of the other facilities. As a result of that people residing there can have quality education and health-care services. Furthermore, need for domestic goods and products will increased and that will create an employment opportunities for local community. For instance, manpower will be required due to opening of a new stores and businesses.
In conclusion, although it is important to protect countryside however, I believe development at the countryside outweigh its' disadvantages. As building a new homes in such areas will not only resolve the housing problems but also improved quality of life of individuals and increased employment opportunities and economical growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of building in the countryside. The ideas are relevant, focusing on cost-effectiveness and the potential for rural development. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding the 'growth of health-care' and 'education' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific, concrete evidence. While the position is consistent, the response would benefit from a more nuanced discussion of the counter-argument (protecting the countryside) to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the task. Overall, it covers all parts of the prompt but lacks the depth required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'In addition to that', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with pronoun usage and article placement that occasionally disrupt the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'urbanisation', 'cost effectiveness', and 'stimulate development'. However, there are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'major expanses' (instead of 'major expenses'), 'an affordable homes' (grammatical error), and 'economical growth' (should be 'economic growth'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Housing crisis are', 'need... will increased'), incorrect article usage ('a new homes'), and misuse of apostrophes ('its''). These errors are noticeable throughout the text. Although the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
