Student answer (Band 6.0)

The concept of building homes in countryside has sparked significant discussion. Some people believe that home is a basic necessary for everyone, as the urban area lack space for new homes, it is important to find spaces in countryside, others argue that it is very important to protect the countryside from making it a new town for residence. This essay will explain both the opinion and explain why I believe it is very essential to safeguard the countryside from building new accomadations.

On the one hand, some people believe that building houses in rural areas helps to accomodate more people. Home is a always a great dream for everyone which requires peace and happiness. The main reason behind building homes in rural areas is to balance the ratio of people in urban places. Due to high number of people in cities, every expenses increases. For instance, rent is increasing day by day which make it unaffordable for people who work in cities.

On the other hand, some people believe that it is vital to protect the countryside from building houses. Countryside are the places which protects the wildlife and also ensuring the safety of people in cities without disturbing the lifes in the forest. Adding to this, to construct new houses it requires the cut down of many trees in countryside which will eventually affect the environment. The another main reason from protesting against the act of building new homes in countryside is to protect the peaceful nature. People can visit places like countryside for vacations without affecting it but building homes to survive in countryside make it enivronmentally affected.

In conclusion, after considering all these points, I stand by the opinion that it is crucial to protect the countryside from building new home, as it is more practical and beneficial for people in long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the two sides of the argument and provided a personal stance in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the environmental impact of building in the countryside is a good point, but it could be further extended with specific examples or more detailed reasoning. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation remains at a general level. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more depth and specific supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'The another main reason from protesting...'). The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but more sophisticated linking words or better management of referencing would improve the overall cohesion of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'building homes' and 'countryside', which appear frequently. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'basic necessary' (should be 'basic necessity') and 'making it a new town' (which is slightly unnatural). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there are minor spelling errors like 'accomadations' and 'enivronmentally'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'urban area lack space' (subject-verb agreement), 'every expenses increases' (pluralization error), and 'it requires the cut down of many trees' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and sentence construction. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
