Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued about building new homes in countryside Where many people believe new homes provide convenience to people who are in need of the housing apart from this there are people who argued by protecting the natural resources around countryside. In this essay, I am going to discuss both the point of views including prompt examples before sharing my own opinion.

Firstly, many people believes that building home in outer skirts of city would help them to stay in a quite and calm places closer to the environment including providing better quality of like specially to older people. For example, people in their retirement ages prefer staying in outer skirts to avoid hustle and crowd around them, spending most of there time resting and enjoying the activities like Fishing, Camping with family.

On other side, there are many people who usually debate about building residential buildings in outer skirts to avoid limiting camping places or tourist places; protecting trees and biodiversity. For instance, many youngsters loves to visit countryside during their vacations with their friends and family after working whole week and spend some quality time with their loved once. However, building new homes would eventually reduce the public spaces for doing activities and increasing cost of vacation.

In my opinion, building homes for people who are in need of affordable housing will leads to better management of housing in society. Simultaneously, preserving natural resources and biodiversity is also important in today's era.

To conclude, it is the responsibility of government of city to find a great balance between both the scenarios providing affordable housing options and protecting public places which might help both the sectors of society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding building homes in the countryside. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention the benefits of quiet living and the importance of biodiversity, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The conclusion attempts to provide a balanced view, but your own position is not clearly sustained throughout the essay; it is only introduced in the penultimate paragraph. To improve, ensure that your opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported with more detailed reasoning in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On other side', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'On other side' instead of 'On the other hand'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'biodiversity', 'affordable housing', and 'natural resources'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'quality of like' (instead of 'life'), 'outer skirts' (instead of 'outskirts'), and 'loved once' (instead of 'loved ones'). To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and collocation, as these minor errors currently limit the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people believes', 'many youngsters loves') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas that affect readability. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as ensuring verbs agree with their subjects, will significantly improve the quality of your writing.
