Student answer (Band 6.5)

The demand of new houses and accommodation is increasing, with every passing day but only countryside areas are available for building new houses due to shortage of land or space in cities. It is considered by handful of masses that protecting countryside is more important than the building new homes in those areas. I partly agree with this statement as protecting rural areas i important but careful developments are also needed as per the need of hour which i will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs before reaching to my opinion.

On the one hand, among the myriad of reasons why i think that rural areas should be protected, prominant one is it can cause damage to the eco-system or environment directly or indirectly. To explain it more, we all know that rural areas are known for forests, fields, farmlands and natural habitats. So in this situation , If we use these areas to build new buildings it may cause harm to farms and habitats of animals and birds living in those areas, consequently. In addition, using these areas for housing may result in reduction of agriculture land which will effect the food production. For example, building large buildings permanently on farmland can change the natural landscape.

On the other hand, the increasing demand of housing also can not be denied. As the more population is increasing the more demand is raising. Hence, in this case building new accommodation options has been essential because if government not make new housing the situation in cities may become worse even the prices of accommodation may increase. So for this phenomenon , only possible solution is to using countryside areas carefully and government should allow construction in those areas which are already affected by human activities. Besides it , government should encourage apartments and higher density buildings in cities rather than spreading housing in rural areas.

To conclude, as per my perception. preventing housing in countryside are should be the priority, but i does not mean that all development should be prohibited. New houses should be built in the clear areas and government should take strict action to protect forests and natural habitats.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You successfully balance the argument for protecting the countryside with the practical need for housing. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the discussion on agricultural land loss and the suggestion for higher-density urban development. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended; for instance, the point about 'affected areas' could be supported with a more specific example of brownfield development. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'In addition,' and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'So for this phenomenon' which is slightly awkward in context. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is always smooth and natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'myriad,' 'prominent,' and 'eco-system.' There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or minor errors, such as 'handful of masses' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'need of hour' (should be 'need of the hour'). Spelling is generally accurate, though there are occasional slips like 'prominant' instead of 'prominent.' To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'The demand of new houses... is increasing' (should be 'demand for'), 'if government not make' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'i does not mean' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage and sentence boundaries. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
