Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people believe that a growing population creates needs of new accommodations and space for new buildings are available in the village areas. Others argue that it is an essential to conserve the natural world for the future generations and find other alternatives in order to meet the demands of new houses. I agree with both views, as constricting a new homes in the countryside offers the citizen natural environment and employment opportunity to local community, whereas it can contaminate atmosphere and raise the demands of resources.

On the one hand, day by day, the populace of cities are raising which address the issues related to shortage of houses. Therefore, a number of people have a desire to use free space in the countryside for building a plenty of houses in order to provide shelter to needy individuals. Moreover, construction process leads to employment opportunities for the local community. Also, living in a natural weather raise the city people's health, standard of living and offers them chance to stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

On the other hand, using village space can significantly hamper the agriculture business and animal life. For example, building a new accommodations on farmlands leads to unavailability of soil for crop cultivation, which can makes the farmers unwilling to provide adequate food to the citizens. Apart from that, converting fertile land in construction sites produces air, water and noise pollution and remove the shelters of animals and bird species. Consequently, it will be responsible for the extinction of wildlife and damage the ecosystems. Therefore, it is mandatory for the governments to protect the countryside for the upcoming generations.

In conclusion, using empty land in the village for new houses access an individuals peaceful and breathtaking views of nature after long working hours and provide employment opportunities to the local communities, whereas increasing population in the countryside place pressure on the resources like transportations, hospitals and schools, contaminate the natural weather and disturb wildlife. Hence, higher authorities have to take correct steps for preserving ecosystems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have successfully identified the tension between the need for housing and the importance of environmental conservation. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where you provide specific consequences of building in the countryside, such as the impact on agriculture and wildlife. To reach a higher band, ensure that your introduction clearly states your position rather than just summarizing the views, and try to provide more nuanced examples to support your arguments, as some points, like the 'natural weather' benefit, are slightly underdeveloped.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'Consequently' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'using empty land in the village for new houses access an individuals.' Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help the essay flow more smoothly and improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'extinction,' 'ecosystems,' and 'cultivation.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors that hinder precision, such as 'natural weather' instead of 'natural environment,' and 'constricting a new homes' (should be 'constructing'). Additionally, phrases like 'the populace of cities are raising' are inaccurate; 'population' is better than 'populace' in this context, and 'increasing' or 'growing' is more appropriate than 'raising.' Focusing on collocations and word forms will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('populace... are raising'), article usage ('the natural world' vs 'the atmosphere'), and pluralization ('a new accommodations'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammar rules, specifically countability and verb agreement, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy to demonstrate better control.
