Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building on the countryside and suggesting alternatives. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the importance of relaxation and suggest using brownfield sites (unused factories), the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about 'rejuvenating optimistic energy' is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or real-world examples, such as the environmental impact of urban sprawl or the economic benefits of urban regeneration. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the development is basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'To resolve the issue of building houses' is a sentence fragment, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. You rely on simple linking words like 'Apart from this' and 'To conclude'. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in light of this', to better connect your ideas within and between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic terms like 'area', 'place', and 'needs'. Phrases like 'rejuvenate the optimistic energy' and 'covert the unused land' (likely meant 'convert') show an attempt to use more sophisticated language, but the collocations are not always natural. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'demand of housing' instead of 'demand for housing'. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and environmental protection, and ensure you are using words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'demand of houses is required' (awkward phrasing), 'only space available to built' (should be 'build'), 'no any place' (should be 'no place'), and 'could to constructed' (should be 'could be constructed'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms in passive constructions, and proofreading for small errors like missing articles or incorrect prepositions.
