Student answer (Band 6.0)
I most of the places, newly built apartments are required but only the free area is available for them out of the cities. As per my opinion, I believe that we have to secure the free land in the country side area instead of building house there.
Firstly, if people will use the free land in rural areas then it will affect an environment a lot. As per my perspective, masses have to conserve the land instead of utilizing it as if we use it to build new apartments then first thing we have to do is to cut the tress which will affect an environment up to a great extent.
To begin this, people have to conserve an environment instead of focusing on industrialization. Moreover, If individuals us the free land in countryside area to build the survival spaces for them then they can degrade the environment up to a great level as they will cut down the trees and clear the ground first which will disturb the stability in an environment which leads in unstability in wildlife and human survival also. It becomes hard to get a fresh air and proper amount of oxygen which is crucial for our survival if there will be no enough trees. For example, In Nepal less than 15 percent free land is available as people used the remaining land for their own purpose to build homes which affects its natural environment also.
Additionally, there will be fall in country's economy also if there will be no space rather than houses. Furthermore, if there will be not enough space available to grow crops in a nation then it will results in decline it economy as they will import the basic crops to their nation instead to export which will disturb its economic level a lot. For instance, a survey conducted by The Times of India that the economy of India in 2026 is decreasing more than 30 percent in comparsion with 2016.
Therefore, according to me environmental degradation and reduce in the level of economy are the justified points to explain my viewpoint.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building in the countryside. The ideas are relevant, focusing on environmental impact and economic consequences. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the first body paragraph where the point about cutting trees is restated multiple times. The example regarding Nepal is vague, and the statistical claim about India's economy in 2026 is speculative and lacks a clear logical link to the argument about housing space. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than circling back to the same concept.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' are used to link sentences. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To begin this' to start a paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by varying the sentence structure and ensuring that each sentence builds upon the previous one more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'free land', 'environment', and 'build'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'survival spaces' instead of 'residential areas' or 'housing', and 'unstability' instead of 'instability'. While the meaning is clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic collocations. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology related to urban planning and environmental science.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include incorrect article usage ('an environment', 'a fresh air'), subject-verb agreement ('it will results in'), and awkward phrasing ('if there will be not enough space'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels clunky. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like articles and verb forms.
