Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, city areas are overcrowded due to large amount of people working and less space for their accommodations. Hence, only space available is in the countryside. Some people argue that it is necessary to protect the remote area and not build any new homes there. I completely agree with this notion and I will explain my reasons behind it in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, there are a plethora of reasons why some people believe that it is necessary to protect the countryside area. The first and foremost reason is the deforestation in order to make space for the new homes. As we are already cutting a huge amount of trees for the daily needs. Therefore, it would be a huge loss if people start to make new homes in the countryside. Secondly, it would also harm the wildlife in the forest as people will destroy the trees. For example, many species have gone extinct due to the deforestation.
Moreover, the pollution will also increase. In other words, tress are the main resource of oxygen and if more amount of trees will destroy then pollution will also increase. Apart from that, if the new home are being built, city people would use more plastics in their daily chores which can results into the land pollution. On the other side, people from the countryside area are still using natural resource for their daily need. Hence, these are the possible disadvantages of building new homes in the remote area.
To conclude, although it is difficult to live in the congested area which can be costly and tiny, I still believe that it is necessary to protect the village area as it will harm the land, wildlife and will increase over all pollution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building in the countryside. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention deforestation and pollution, the arguments remain at a surface level. For instance, you mention that 'many species have gone extinct' as an example, but this is a broad claim that lacks specific context or depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific examples of how urban planning could solve the housing crisis without encroaching on rural land. The position is consistent, but the supporting arguments need more elaboration to be fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For example, the use of 'In other words' to introduce a point about oxygen is not entirely accurate as it does not paraphrase the previous sentence. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'these are the possible disadvantages', which refers back to a list of points that could be more tightly linked to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'plethora', 'deforestation', and 'congested'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'make space for the new homes' (build new homes), 'make new homes' (construct/build), and 'daily chores' (daily activities/lives). Furthermore, there are minor errors in word form, such as 'if more amount of trees will destroy' (if more trees are destroyed). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision and sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'large amount of people' (large number of people), 'only space available is' (the only space available is), and 'if the new home are being built' (if new homes are built). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
