Student answer (Band 6.5)

Building a perfect home is a dream for every individual. Some believe constructing houses in rural areas is harmful, however, others believe countryside allows appropriate spacing and amenities to build a home. I firmly agree with the latter view.

There are several benefits of constructing a house in a village area. To begin with, rural areas have larger vacant space for development. To cite an example, people are building villas according to their lifestyle at countryside and use big amount of space for the same. Large area helps to build pool and garden area for a peaceful living. Urban areas has a busy and stressful life, village areas helps to relax. To cite an example, weekends can be enjoyed by seating in the backyard and spend quality time with the family. Despite of developed infrastructure in cities, it cannot match the level of mental peace people have in rural areas.

There are several disadvantages of utilizing the vacant space for new home development in rural areas. Environment will be affected as well as it will disturb the living of flora and fauna. For instance, usage of machinery will create noise pollution and cutting trees for wood affects the nature. However, constructing more homes in villages will boost employment opportunities. It will helps improve infrastructure and provides modern facilities to local residents.

To conclude, building homes in rural areas boost the economy and also helps people build their dream home based on their lifestyle. Government must ensure all construction is approved and does not harm the nature and animals living nearby. I believe it is a good way of promoting development in villages and creates various opportunities for local people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your stance, such as the benefits of space and the potential for economic development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention the environmental impact, this section is brief and could have been expanded with more specific examples or a deeper analysis of the trade-off between development and conservation. To reach a higher band, ensure that all arguments are fully extended and supported with more nuanced reasoning, rather than relying on general statements about 'modern facilities' or 'nature'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'For instance', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'To cite an example' is used twice in the same paragraph, which limits the flow. Additionally, the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother; the transition from the benefits of rural living to the disadvantages of construction is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacant space', 'infrastructure', and 'employment opportunities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'big amount of space' is unnatural; 'a significant amount of space' or 'ample space' would be more appropriate. Similarly, 'seating in the backyard' should be 'sitting in the backyard'. While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the lack of precision in these areas prevents a higher score. Focusing on natural collocations will help improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'village areas helps to relax' (subject-verb agreement), 'Despite of developed infrastructure' (incorrect preposition usage; should be 'Despite the'), and 'It will helps' (incorrect verb form). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and modal verbs.
