Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by stating your opinion clearly in the introduction and conclusion. You provided relevant reasons, such as the importance of agriculture and the environmental impact of urban sprawl. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion to build vertically is a good point, but it could have been expanded with more detail on why this is a viable alternative. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is fully supported with specific examples or deeper analysis to ensure the argument is thoroughly developed throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Moving further' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the transition from population growth to natural disasters could be smoother. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help create a more cohesive and professional flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'natural habitats', 'serene', and 'sophisticated'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'demonstrate houses' instead of 'construct houses' and 'cop with' instead of 'cope with'. There are also some spelling errors like 'enviornment' and 'sophicicated'. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common academic topics and proofread carefully to eliminate minor spelling mistakes that detract from the overall quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people are argue', 'are believe') and incorrect verb forms ('will going to provide', 'I am agree'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the reader pause, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures. Consistent practice with proofreading will help you identify and correct these recurring errors.
