Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern world every nations are fighting with housing problems due to factors such as growth in population and increasing migration to metro cities. Whether to utilize available space in the countryside is a debatable issue. I will be providing my opinion on this viewpoint along with relevant examples.
The people who stand against construction of new buildings in the countryside has myraid reasons. to begin with, this will pollute air quality of the countryside too. In other words, there are only few places left with lots of trees and wildlife. If we decide to carry out construction in these areas it will directly affect habitate of wild creatures as we need to clean up some space from forest are to build housing space. Moreover, construction will disturb silent atmosphere of the villages and affect overall air quality index due to waste generated during construction.
On the contrary, I believe it will help in development of barren land as more traffic will go to the countryside to live there it can lead to generation of job opportunities and installation of basic amenities by government such as, street lights, better roadways, public transport and water connections which is not at the present. In addition, it is the best way to mitigate housing problem as the main cause for this is issue is densely populated and congested cities. Not only it will help in migration of crowd towards villages but also helps in traffic problem in metro cities.
To conclude, although there are few demerits in building homes in the countryside like risk to wild life and natural habitates but it is the most effective way solve housing issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the core conflict between housing needs and environmental protection. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'barren land' is a strong point, but it could be further supported with specific examples of how infrastructure development benefits rural communities. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesised the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation or a concrete example to fully flesh out your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the environmental concerns and the economic benefits in the second paragraph could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, but ensure that pronouns and linking phrases are used to create a more natural progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mitigate', 'amenities', and 'congested'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'habitate of wild creatures' (should be 'habitat') and 'clean up some space from forest are' (should be 'forest area'). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'myraid' (myriad). To improve, focus on using less common vocabulary more precisely and double-check your spelling of key terms. Expanding your range of collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The people who stand against... has myriad reasons' should be 'have') and missing articles ('solve housing issue' should be 'solve the housing issue'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that slightly impede the flow. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these are recurring issues that affect the overall accuracy of your writing.
