Student answer (Band 6.5)

In many countries, housing crisis are pressing issues for many governments. The population in increasing day by day so a serious demand for new housing. While some people think that natural area is extremely important. In this essay, I will discuss about careful house planning before presenting my own view.

Out of all the arguments, one of the prominent advantages of building new homes in selected areas is that it can help solve the housing shortage. That is to say, many cities are becoming overcrowded and property prices are increasing rapidly because there are not enough affordable house available. Moreover, when young families cannot find suitable accommodation, they may forced to live in small or expensive properties. For instance, many families in larger cities often spend more than their half salary on rent due to shortage houses. In addition, more areas needed for schools, hospitals and public transport because of more residents.

On the other side, some people believe that protect country side is primary responsibility of governments. If governments allow developers to build new homes everywhere near country side without strict rules then natural habitats may disappear permanently. As a consequence, forest damage and the loss of species could become more serious. For example, when large areas of green lands are replaced by buildings and roads, animals may lose their natural homes. However, this animals can be reduced if governments protect important natural areas and permit construction only on suitable areas.

In conclusion, although the country side should be protected form unnecessary development. I strongly believe that building homes in carefully selected rural areas is necessary. By creating strict rules and planning communities properly, authorities can meet housing demand.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the housing crisis and the environmental concerns, providing a balanced view before concluding with your own opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the mention of rising property prices and the impact on wildlife. However, some points could be developed further; for instance, the argument about 'suitable areas' is mentioned but not fully explained in terms of what these areas might look like. Overall, the response is focused and meets the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'On the other side' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or the referencing is a bit weak, such as in the sentence 'However, this animals can be reduced', where the pronoun reference is unclear. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'overcrowded', 'affordable', and 'natural habitats'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'housing crisis are' (should be 'crises are' or 'a housing crisis is') and 'shortage houses' (should be 'a shortage of houses'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, some inaccuracies persist. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('The population in increasing', 'this animals') and article usage ('protect country side'). Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or missing necessary prepositions. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the grammar does not significantly hinder the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement and article consistency.
