Student answer (Band 6.0)

Demand for housing has been increased a lot nowadays. Every person want to build their own homes but that's true that space is not available in the cities and it's available only near the countryside.

I totally agree with the statement that countryside should be protected and new homes should not be build there. There are numerous reasons behind this. The first and foremost is exploitation to the nature. This means that the countryside is covered with full of trees and beautiful waterfalls. In case people start building their homes there, then they will cut down the trees. As a result the beauty will be hindered. Secondly countryside are home to so many herbivores animals. So making homes will impact their living. Consequently, wildlife in that area will be get vanished.

Thirdly, if people started living near the countryside they will use their cars and bikes to go to their workplaces and grocery shopping. Subsequently, pollution will increase and air quality will decrease.

In conclusion, i would like to say that in case still people want to make their homes in the countryside, they should keep in mind all the aspects and make their homes accordingly. It means there should not be any cutting of trees and damage to natural habitat. There should not be any effect to the wildlife and also if you want to go to your workplaces either buy eco-friendly cars or use public transport to commute. In case all these things are considered seriously i believe there will be no harm in building homes in the countryside.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development is inconsistent. While you provide reasons for protecting the countryside, the conclusion contradicts your initial stance by suggesting that building homes is acceptable if certain conditions are met. This shift makes your overall position slightly unclear. To improve, ensure your conclusion reinforces your main argument rather than introducing new, conflicting conditions. The ideas regarding environmental impact and wildlife are relevant, but they could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use transition words like 'The first and foremost', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, some of the cohesive devices feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'if people started living near the countryside they will use their cars', where the connection between the location and the specific behavior could be more fluidly linked. Improving the variety of linking phrases will enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points effectively. You use some topic-specific terms like 'natural habitat', 'eco-friendly', and 'commute'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'exploitation to the nature' (should be 'exploitation of nature') and 'wildlife in that area will be get vanished' (should be 'will vanish' or 'will be destroyed'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'Every person want' (should be 'wants') and 'countryside are home' (should be 'is home'). There are also errors in verb tense and passive voice construction, such as 'should not be build' (should be 'built') and 'will be get vanished'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct passive voice formation will significantly improve your accuracy.
