Student answer (Band 6.5)
Whether rural areas should be used to build new accommodations or not has sparked a heated debate over the years. While, many people believe that rural communities are the only place where homes can be build, others disagree and reckon that protecting countryside should be the priority and establishing new residential building there should be prohibited. From my perspective, the construction of homes should be equally distributed in both urban and rural communities to bring equality in accommodation facilities and other amenities such as healthcare, education, shopping centers and many more along with the preservation of nature.
One of the major reasons why new houses should be build in the countryside is to attract more facilities there. If residential areas are introduced in these regions, they facilitate in bringing advanced healthcare, transport and education opportunities to their residences; making them develop rapidly. To cite an example, during the British rule in India, numerous small villages got effective transportation system because Britishers built their homes in those areas and they needed the transportation for their personal use. This is how railways were introduced in India. Therefore, to make any small region grow faster, construction of accommodation is really crucial to attract more opportunities.
On the other side, the primary reason behind restricting the establishment of new houses in the countryside and to keep it to the cities is the environmental protection. Rural communities are often filled with greenery and tranquility. Constructing new houses there does not only eliminate their tranquility but also reduce their green space because a huge land have to be cleared to make housing spaces in these areas. Thus, by keeping new accommodations to cities, people can preserve the peace and natural habitat of villages.
Taking everything into account, I ultimately conclude that even though the expansion of new houses to the countryside brings numerous benefits in these areas, I still thinks, the construction plan of new houses should not be implemented solely in rural areas. The distribution should fair to benefit villages by providing advanced infrastructure and protect their surroundings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear position that advocates for a balanced approach between urban and rural development. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the historical reference to infrastructure development in India. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven; the argument regarding environmental protection is a bit generic and could have been strengthened with more specific contemporary examples. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the task requirements are met effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the major reasons', 'On the other side', and 'Taking everything into account' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in the flow between sentences, such as the transition into the example about British rule. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. There is an attempt to use a range of vocabulary, such as 'accommodations', 'tranquility', and 'prohibited'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'houses should be build' (should be built) and 'distribution should fair' (should be fair). While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the lack of more sophisticated or precise lexical items limits the score to the 6.0-6.5 range. The errors do not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are persistent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'houses can be build', 'a huge land have to be cleared', and 'I still thinks'. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor issues with comma usage. The errors are noticeable but rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to demonstrate more consistent control over basic grammatical structures.
