Student answer (Band 6.0)
Due to the growing population in the world, it is required to build new homes. There are certain individuals who assert to build new houses in countryside areas whereas, many others think to preserve that areas. This essay will shed light on both aspects along with my personal opinion.
To begin with, there are number of reasons that why people think that building new homes in countryside is important. Firstly, people do not have enough space to build new homes anywhere else in the towns and cities because cities are totally occupied by the industries and there is less space to make home for living. Hence , it leads to required a separate location for houses.
On the other side, countryside areas needs to be preserved for agriculture and wildlife. It should not be used for residential purpose. To be more clear, if the houses will build in these areas then it leads to not only traffic congestion and air pollution but also leads to destroy the wildlife and trees.
As per my opinion , the countryside areas should be used for parks, agriculture and preserving the wildlife. It will help to reduce the pollution owing to the numerous trees and also assist in growing crops.
To conclude, it is true to make new houses at certain places but, it is not a good idea to build in countryside because it will destroy the wildlife and agriculture land that is important to maintain the ecosystem. Thus, the state can take stringent step to tackle this issue by making new homes in urban areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the need for housing due to population growth and the importance of preserving the countryside, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the suggestion to build in urban areas is mentioned in the conclusion but is not explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or real-world examples, ensuring that your arguments are fully supported rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'On the other side,' and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'if the houses will build in these areas then it leads to...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on somewhat repetitive phrasing, such as 'build new homes' and 'countryside areas.' There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'it is required to build' instead of 'there is a need to build' or 'it is necessary to build.' To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, environmental conservation, and sustainability, and focus on using more natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'there are number of reasons that why people think,' 'countryside areas needs to be preserved,' and 'if the houses will build.' These errors in subject-verb agreement, article usage, and passive voice construction are noticeable. While the meaning is generally clear, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent grammatical accuracy to move into the higher bands.
