Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or depth. For instance, the point about farmers is unclear and does not directly address the core tension between housing needs and environmental protection. The essay is too brief to fully explore the complexities of the prompt, leading to a superficial treatment of the topic. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by unclear phrasing and weak transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand', the connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical or confusing. For example, the transition 'furthermore, to stay healthy maintain good health' is grammatically disjointed and lacks clarity. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs to be more cohesive to guide the reader effectively through your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one will enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'new constructions of houses at urban areas' instead of 'housing developments in urban areas' and 'aforestation' (which is a spelling error for 'afforestation'). You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'some citizens says', and run-on sentences where clauses are joined incorrectly, such as 'they are numerous reasons we will discuss in this essay'. The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and practicing the correct use of complex sentence forms to add variety to your writing.
