Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is no doubt that home a basic necessity of every individual life.In many places new homes are needed ,however the only space available in order to make building in the countryside. On the other side ,few people think that it is more important to protect the countryside instead of build new homes there.

There are various reasons behind this phenomenon which could not be overlooked. The most significant reason is that the shortage of house . To make it more clear ,thesedays population is increasing day by day and most of the families which are more big . That is why it is very difficult for them to live in small house .In addition to this , house is more expensive because of this people can not afford it . As a result ,people want to build new home .

On the other side ,why making new homes are not good for natural beauty because if pepole are agree to make their homes then they have need and they prefer to cut the trees . In this way ,most of the birds and animals face difficult to survive in thie life .

To conclude .according to my prospective , making new homes could not be deny by few people but they should make their new home in a suitable place rather than countryside because protecting natural area is fruitful for future generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the need for housing and the importance of protecting the countryside. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. The position is clear, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about population growth is mentioned but not fully explored in relation to the specific dilemma of countryside development. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure you meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'On the other side' used twice to introduce different points, which is confusing. Some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the start of the second paragraph. The logical progression of ideas is present but sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors that make the flow feel disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help your ideas connect more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'make building' or 'make their homes' rather than more precise collocations like 'construct housing' or 'develop residential areas'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'prospective' instead of 'perspective' and 'fruitful' used in a slightly unnatural context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common words and more accurate collocations related to urban planning and environmental conservation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with article usage ('a basic necessity of every individual life'), subject-verb agreement ('most of the families which are more big'), and sentence structure ('making new homes are not good'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are frequent and occasionally cause the reader to pause. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors will significantly improve your score.
