Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern society, new homes becomes an necessity but its hard to find the location within the city so the only option left with is countryside. This option contradicts the viewpoint of those who want to protect that land. I believe there must be an another way which could respect everyone thoughts.
To begin with, by having homes out from cities people can connect to their roots and could enjoy fresh air. The same development, will generate some needs of people like supermarkets. recreational centers and restaurants, gyms which eventually generate the employment in those surroundings.
On the other hand , building homes in countryside will solve some problems but it will also affect the wildlife and agricultural lands. By having those kind of residential areas will bring more traffic and pollution which can affect the growth of crops and agricultural lands. That process could cause deforestation and harming livelihoods of the animal living there.
I strongly believe that government should take a step marking lands for building more infrastructure like barren lands which are not in use of farms or wildlife. Builders should start focusing on making more apartment buildings which will cover less land and could give shelter to more and more occupants.
In conclusion, with this kind of solution farming lands and other wildlife livelihoods can be conserved from getting in danger of exploitation other harmful effects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the tension between housing needs and countryside preservation. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development. While you present a clear position and suggest a compromise, the arguments are somewhat brief. For example, the point about 'barren lands' is a good idea but lacks specific elaboration or examples to fully support your stance. To improve, ensure you expand on your reasoning with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are missing or awkward, such as the start of the second paragraph: 'The same development, will generate...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'exploitation', 'infrastructure', and 'residential areas'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'new homes becomes an necessity' (should be 'become a necessity') and 'respect everyone thoughts' (should be 'everyone's thoughts'). Additionally, some phrasing is repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms and collocations. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and environmental conservation would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('new homes becomes') and article usage ('in countryside' should be 'in the countryside'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the unnecessary space before the comma in 'On the other hand ,'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex structures will help improve your score.
