Student answer (Band 6.0)
With the increase in the population, the requirement for building new accomodations is also increasing day by day. As per my opinion, building high rise apartments in cities can help with saving space and still saving rural land for other purposes. I will highlight the benefits of building high rise buildings for people to live in rather than building homes in country side and how the country land can be used for other beneficial purposes.
In urban areas, the life is busy and building flats for people to live in can help save up a lot of space and increase the infrastructure of the city. High rise buildings can accommodate a lot of people. The saved space could be used for making other tourist spots or leisure activity centers for people to have get togethers. This can bring the community along. Also, nearby transportation facilities could be built to facilitate people commuting to work or other purposes. This overall development thus, increase the infrastructure and other facilities and makes the city appealing to tourists as well.
The land in the rural areas can be utilized for agricultural purposes and also to conserve flora and fauna of the region. As the country side land is less populated and a few people live there, having agricultural activities can help with food supply and also some employment in this region rather than building new homes. Furthermore, forests and variety of animals can be conserved in such a way so they do not lose their habitat. This utilization would help the people and the environment.
Having a balance between nature and modern lifestyle can help with a lot of things as mentioned in the previous paragraphs specially to accommodate many people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt directly by presenting a clear position that building high-rise apartments in urban areas is preferable to developing the countryside, allowing rural land to be reserved for agriculture and nature conservation. The student outlines relevant ideas, such as infrastructure development, community spaces, food supply, and environmental preservation. However, some of these ideas remain somewhat underdeveloped or repetitive, leaning towards general statements rather than deep extension with concrete personal examples. For instance, the discussion on tourist spots and community get-togethers in urban areas is introduced but not fully elaborated. Nevertheless, the main task components are appropriately covered, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6 performance under Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs discussing urban benefits and rural preservation, concluding with a brief summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "Furthermore," "Also," and "This overall development thus." However, some referencing is slightly mechanical or repetitive, and transitions between sentences occasionally feel abrupt. For example, the sentence "This can bring the community along" could be more smoothly connected to the preceding clause about leisure activity centers. Overall, the organizational structure is clear and follows a logical sequence, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to urban planning and environmental conservation, such as "infrastructure," "agricultural purposes," "flora and fauna," and "habitat." There are, however, occasional spelling and word-choice errors, notably "accomodations" (spelling), "country side" (often written as two words or incorrectly spaced), and the phrase "As per my opinion" (which is less natural than "In my opinion"). Despite these inaccuracies and occasional reliance on simpler vocabulary, the lexicon is sufficient to communicate the writer's message clearly without impeding the reader, placing the lexical range firmly within Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as conditional and participial phrases ("As the country side land is less populated and a few people live there, having agricultural activities can..."). There are several grammatical and mechanical errors present throughout the text, including article omissions and preposition choices, such as "in urban areas, the life is busy" (unnecessary article) and "increase the infrastructure" instead of "improves" or "enhances." Punctuation errors also appear, such as the comma splice before "thus, increase." Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear, which corresponds closely to the criteria for a Band 6.0.
