Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many places across the country, new accommodations are required. However, due to the storage of the space, we only have the option to build new houses in the countryside. Some people believe that protecting the countryside should be preferred over building new homes, I completely agree with this statement because otherwise it can be overcrowded and unsafe for the people who are already living there.

The predominant reason for not letting new houses built in the countryside is because it can increase the chances of attack. If any country's rural area is not covered in the safety, the attackers would definitely target that area by considering it as weak spot. More housing will going to open the doors for more population and thus contributes in more damage when the attack will happen. For example, the borders of the countries are therefore more protected and is usually have the more security as it the main checkpoint for the enemies.

The another reason behind this is the proportion of risking people's live by preferring more housing over protection. Every life matters, this quote is famous worldwide and adopted by almost every country. The government, which should be responsible for saving every citizen's life, will compromise with this by allowing more housing along rural areas. Another disadvantage will be that it can disturb the employment rate in such areas. More people will going to apply for same job application resulting in unemployment. It can make the countryside overcrowded along with risking individuals live.

To conclude, In order to save innocent citizen's live and employment rate, the thought of building new houses should be abandoned which will directly result in more assurance of safety and peace for the people living in the countryside.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt by taking a clear position ('I completely agree with this statement') and presents reasons to support it, such as protecting the countryside from potential attacks and preserving employment rates. However, the main body arguments drift into unusual and underdeveloped territory, specifically arguing that building homes in rural areas makes a country vulnerable to military attacks and increases unemployment by having too many people apply for the same job. These ideas lack logical plausibility and real-world relevance, which prevents the task response from reaching a higher band. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the development of ideas is limited and unconvincing, aligning well with the Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into four distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a discernible overall structure, but the progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by unusual logic. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', and 'To conclude' are employed, but referencing and transitions are sometimes clumsy, as seen in 'The another reason behind this is the proportion of risking people's live'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the main points, but the mechanical and occasionally inaccurate use of cohesive ties places this response firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary to discuss the general topic, utilizing terms such as 'accommodations', 'predominant reason', 'population', and 'employment rate'. However, there are notable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'storage of the space' (instead of shortage of space), 'risking people's live' (instead of lives), and 'job application' instead of job openings or positions. Less common vocabulary is attempted but frequently inaccurate or inappropriate in collocation, which matches the Band 5 criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'If any country's rural area is not covered in the safety...'). However, grammatical errors are frequent and pervasive throughout the text. Examples include 'new houses built' (instead of new houses being built), 'More housing will going to open', 'is usually have the more security', and 'citizen's live'. These persistent errors and awkward constructions can cause some difficulty for the reader, though communication is generally maintained, making Band 5 an appropriate evaluation.
