Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the debate surrounding building houses in the countryside. However, the essay is incomplete, abruptly cutting off mid-sentence in the second body paragraph, and it is severely under-length at only 200 words (failing the 250-word minimum requirement). Because of this, the main position is not fully developed, and the conclusion is entirely missing. While the writer attempts to present arguments for both sides, the lack of completion and word count limitation restricts the task achievement score to Band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay attempts a standard organizational structure with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, coherence is heavily disrupted because the text cuts off abruptly before the discussion is finished, and there is no concluding paragraph. Logical progression breaks down in the second body paragraph where the writing ends mid-thought. Cohesive devices are used simply (e.g., 'On the contrary', 'For instence'), but referencing and linking are basic and occasionally awkward. Paragraphing is also incomplete. Overall, the structural flaws place this performance at Band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary with frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally strain the reader. Examples include 'a ongoing' instead of 'an ongoing', 'countryside aress' instead of 'areas', 'sopporters' instead of 'supporters', 'forword' instead of 'forward', and 'for instence' instead of 'instance'. Words are often misused or confused, such as 'houses crisis' instead of 'housing crisis' and 'low houses infrastructures'. This vocabulary profile aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors that sometimes obscure meaning. The text contains numerous basic errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('others claims') and article misuse ('a ongoing', 'the growth and development of country'). Sentence structures are heavily repetitive and simplistic, and attempts at complex sentences lead to severe breakdown, compounded by the fact that the essay is incomplete. Punctuation is also faulty, with comma splices present in the introduction. This matches the characteristics of Band 4.0.
