Student answer (Band 5.5)

many people thing that new buildings are needed for that rural area should be used that is the only place to make resident space while other think that it needs to be protected i belive that rural area should be proteted to safe the greenrey and environment

To Commence with , the first and formost reason to save the farm side is to protect the nature because that area is hugly connected with trees , fresh water and animals . Trees helps us to give fresh air which is necessary for every human being . we need to plant even more tress if we are using that place how can we survive even without oxygen moreover they are benefical to absorb noise pollution which give us relaxtion and soothing our mind .Secondly it is house for many types of birds and animals For example if we cut the tress the house for birds will be gone with that tress .

furthermore , if we need to make more house we can make it through flats and appartments that is the best and alternative soultion for this problem .Bulinding laage homes can lead to deforestation and the loss of agriculture land For example if forest and farmland are replaced by housing projects , future generation may have fewer resources left

To Cap it up , it vital to save the farmland rather than making more house beacuse it give us polloution free environment , greenry , agriculture land and housing for many birds and animals this can be substituted by making flats and appartments .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the countryside should be protected to save greenery and the environment. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as the benefits of trees for fresh air and noise reduction, and offers an alternative solution by suggesting flats and apartments. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack full extension. For instance, the discussion on wildlife and resources is somewhat brief and repetitive. The position is maintained throughout, but the depth of development aligns best with a Band 5 or 6. Because all parts of the task are addressed and a clear stance is presented with supporting examples like deforestation and alternative housing, the descriptor for Band 6 is met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding section. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as the environmental benefits of trees and the alternative of building apartments. However, cohesive devices are frequently mechanical and inaccurate, as seen in phrases like 'To Commence with ,' and 'To Cap it up ,'. Furthermore, referencing and punctuation are faulty throughout the text, and some sentences lack proper transitional links, causing occasional disruption to the logical flow. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5 category for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic ideas about the environment, pollution, and housing. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'thing' instead of 'think', 'resident' instead of 'residential', 'proteted' instead of 'protected', 'greenrey' instead of 'greenery', 'hugly' instead of 'hugely', 'benefical' instead of 'beneficial', 'relaxtion' instead of 'relaxation', 'soultion' instead of 'solution', 'Bulinding' instead of 'Building', 'laage' instead of 'large', and 'polloution' instead of 'pollution'. These errors demonstrate a limited control over spelling and word forms, restricting the lexical score to a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures and relative clauses. However, control of grammar and punctuation is weak, with frequent punctuation errors, missing capitalisation, run-on sentences, and incorrect verb forms like 'Trees helps us to give fresh air' and 'beacuse it give us'. There is also a lack of full stops and commas, making many sentences grammatically inaccurate. While meaning is generally communicated despite these flaws, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures prevents the response from reaching Band 6, making Band 5 a more accurate reflection of the grammatical accuracy.
