Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, population is growing at fast pace and there is need to build a new homes. However, the space for constructing homes is available only in rural area. Some people suggest that we need to save the cultivated land rather than building additional housing over there.I belive that new accomodation should get built up but in limited area by not using the productive land.
On the one hand, countryside land should not be fully used for construction as we have to save the environment for upcoming generation. So, If we do deforestation at alrge scale than there will be increase in the pollution in both rural and urban areas. This will also destroy the wildlife as houses of many birds and animals will get damage automatically. Secondly, the land available for farming will get reduced which will lead to shortage of food supply in country. For example: if there will be small amount of land left for cultivation tahn the food pricing will go up as compare to demand in the market an dit can increase the inflation the country.
On the other hand, new houses should be build so, that living cost in the cities do not get rised. To manage this builders can use land which is not in use at countryside rather than doing deforestation.Instead, of building single storey house they can construct the flats which can provide housing for enough population. Moreover, this will also help to reduce the cost of living in the cities and people have option to rent the houses in rural areas at affordable prices as there will be no longer housing shortages.
To conclude, I belive that to maintain the cost of living it is necessary to build new homes, but protecting the countryside should be given greater importance. As, carefully planned construction should be permitted to suitable areas only which is not harmful to the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for protecting the countryside and the arguments for building new homes, presenting a clear position throughout. Ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the impact on food supply, farming land, and living costs. However, some arguments lack deeper development and tend to generalise slightly, for instance regarding the exact economic mechanisms of inflation. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0 by covering all parts with a clear position and well-chosen examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organised into clear paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs addressing both sides of the issue ('On the one hand', 'On the other hand'), and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, although some referencing is occasionally mechanical or faulty, such as punctuation errors and missing spaces after periods. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, providing a coherent overall arrangement that guides the reader easily through the arguments, aligning well with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the task, including terms like 'deforestation', 'cultivation', 'housing shortages', and 'inflation'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'accomodation', 'alrge scale', 'tahn', 'rised', and missing articles. Less common lexical items are attempted but occasionally lack precision or contain typographical errors that reflect control issues typical of a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is used throughout the essay. The student attempts complex structures with conditionals and subordinate clauses, as seen in 'So, If we do deforestation at alrge scale than there will be increase...'. However, there are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the grammar score to Band 6.0 due to the lack of error-free complex sentences.
