Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, the world progressing rapidly and so the cities. Deu to all modern facilities the cities are over crowded and congsted for new homes. There are only space left for new homes is in the countryside. While some argue that countryside must be protected by not building new homes there. In my opinion, although provinding suffiicent housing is important, protecting valuable rural areas should be given greater priorities.

There are several reasons for need of building new houses but the major reasons are rapid growing population and urbanisation create shortage of afforable houses within the cities. If there are no suitable land available for building new houses within the urban areas, a well planning developing in the rural areas may help to accomodate growing populations. Moreover, building new houses also create new jobs opportunities for locals. New building plan also brings better facilities for the rural areas such as, hospitals, schools as compared to urban areas.

On the other hand, without planning construction can damge the natural resources such as, forest, rivers and agricutural land. Furthermore, by cutting trees play a vital role in increasing in air pollutions and temperature of the area. Moreover, natural disasters e.g flood came frequently which is bad for human beings.

In the conslusion, although need of building new house is necessity of time but it should be done by controlled planning development and try to choose area where the ecffects of natural environment minimal. Countryside should be given priorites on

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the need for new housing and the importance of protecting the countryside, presenting a clear personal position in the introduction. Ideas are extended, such as mentioning infrastructure benefits and environmental impacts like pollution and natural disasters. However, the conclusion cuts off abruptly ('Countryside should be given priorites on'), leaving the final thought incomplete. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met as the text contains 246 words, which results in a slight penalty to the task achievement score for under-length. Band 5.5 is awarded.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure with paragraphs dedicated to the introduction, arguments for building, arguments against building, and a conclusion. However, logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and awkward phrasing, such as starting the counter-argument with 'On the other hand, without planning construction can damge...' Cohesive devices are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately (e.g., 'Deu to', 'In the conslusion'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, preventing a fully cohesive flow. Band 5.0 is awarded.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as 'urbanisation', 'infrastructure', and 'natural disasters'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Deu' for due, 'congsted' for congested, 'suffiicent' for sufficient, 'afforable' for affordable, 'damge' for damage, 'agricutural' for agricultural, and 'ecffects' for effects. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('There are only space left'), subject-verb agreement issues ('cutting trees play'), and awkward clause structures ('If there are no suitable land available'). Punctuation is also problematic in places, notably trailing off at the very end of the essay. While simple sentences are generally understandable, complex structures are frequently faulty. Band 5.0 is awarded.
