Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been noticed that new home are needed in many areas but the only place left to build new accomodations is in the countryside. Some people beleive that we should protect our rural areas and avoid the construction of new homes there, while skeptics disagree with this view and believe that countryside should be used for the building of new residental structures. I personally believe that rural areas should be used to deal with housing crises but with strict environmental practices.
To commence with, building homes in the countryside not only help in the development of the area but also facilitates the overcrowding and unnecessary pressure on the amenities in the cities. Rural areas are preserved in terms of nature but they are still under developed. Building new homes in those areas can lead to development of basic facilities such as better roads, schools and proper network connection. Moreover, overcrowding in the cities is also a cause of pollution. With this shift, population will move from cities to the countryside and this reduce the traffic congestion and garbage level in the cities. These factors are the direct cause of air and land pollution. Additionally, people will experience calm and relaxing environment of the countryside.
However, people believe that building of new homes can effect the rural area through excessive construction and garbage. In my perspective, strict environment and construction laws should be imposed in the countryside such as regular garbage collection system and heavy fines for unethical and inappropriate dumping. Furthermore, construction should be limited to residental structures only, there should be no industrial or manufacturing buildings. Lastly, construction of new homes must be limited and designed properly.
To sum up, individuals believe that new construction have detrimental effects on the rural areas but I think planned construction can develop the countryside upto an extent and provide them with basic facilities, they often lack. Strict environmental and construction laws along with proper planning is the most appropriate approach not only to deal with housing problem but also for the enhancement of rural areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the need to protect the countryside and the argument for building new homes there to solve housing crises. You take a clear position right from the introduction: that rural areas should be utilised with strict environmental safeguards. Your ideas are extended and supported reasonably well, such as discussing how rural development can reduce urban overcrowding and pollution. However, some of your supporting points lean towards generalisations without specific real-world examples. To reach a higher band, you could expand more precisely on how countryside construction specifically mitigates housing shortages using concrete instances or more robust elaboration. Overall, your communication of the main position and arguments remains clear and relevant throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay demonstrates a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, such as the benefits of rural development in the second paragraph and counter-arguments with your rebuttal in the third. You use cohesive devices adequately, including terms like 'To commence with', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'To sum up'. However, referencing and cohesion can sometimes feel slightly mechanical or formulaic. For instance, the transition between paragraphs could be smoother to link ideas more naturally. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different facets of the prompt, ensuring the reader can follow your line of reasoning easily.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'traffic congestion', 'unnecessary pressure', and 'detrimental effects'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors that slightly detract from precision, such as 'accomodations' instead of 'accommodation', 'beleive' instead of 'believe', 'resental' instead of 'residential', and 'effect' instead of 'affect'. Furthermore, phrases like 'proper network connection' and 'calm and relaxing environment' are somewhat basic. While these lexical slips and spelling mistakes do not impede overall communication, they prevent you from achieving a higher band score where greater accuracy and sophistication in word choice are required.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional-style outcomes and relative clauses ('where new homes are needed', 'population will move from cities to the countryside and this reduce'). There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, subject-verb agreement is sometimes faulty, such as 'new home are needed' (homes are) and 'this reduce' (this reduces). Additionally, articles and pluralization need closer attention, as seen in 'effect the rural area' (affect) and 'upto an extent'. Despite these recurring errors and occasional punctuation issues, your sentences remain generally comprehensible and communication is rarely impeded, placing your grammar securely at the Band 6.0 level.
