Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this fast-growing world along with the technology population is also at its peak and people are facing problems related to housing. However there is a good vacant space in the coutryside areas to build couple of buildings to solve this concern, but a section of society believes that its more essential to protect the rural areas. I will discus both the views and give my opinion in this upcoming essay.

On the one hand, due to the rising number of population around the world there is a shortage of housing in municipality areas causing probems for people working and living in that areas. To clarify, Most of the corporates and the MNCs are in urban areas. To work for them people rent or buy houses within that area for the better commuting. For example, a single building in urban area have a multiple floors to boost the occupancy compared to rural region where individuals like to have maximum two or three floors. Thus, resulting in busy traffic, high living cost and housing crisis in cities.

On the other hand, it is crucial to protect the natural world such as trees and plants. They not only provide oxygen that is really important to have life on earth but also a home for wildlife animals and birds.Building new homes in countryside areas may become a major issue for wildlife in a long run. In my opinon if constructing new apartments in rural areas within a calculated and certain amount could be better for both the problems.

In conclusion, building new homes in rural region is an option for solving the urban housing crisis. However, doing this in uncontrolled or unappropriate manner may raise big challenge for wildlife in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the need for housing and the importance of protecting the countryside, and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are generally relevant, though the development in the body paragraphs is somewhat limited and lacks robust supporting examples. For instance, the claim that a single building in an urban area has multiple floors to boost occupancy is contrasted briefly with rural regions, but this point remains underdeveloped. The position is maintained throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with Band 6, where all parts of the task are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of cohesive devices is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, transition phrases like 'To clarify' and 'Thus, resulting in' show awkward punctuation and incomplete sentence structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'within that area' and 'that areas'. Progression is discernible, but the overall flow is hindered by these mechanical cohesive elements. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'fast-growing', 'housing crisis', and 'wildlife'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'coutryside' instead of 'countryside', 'discus' instead of 'discuss', 'probems' instead of 'problems', 'unappropriate' instead of 'inappropriate', and 'in my opinon'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary is adequate for the task but suffers from occasional inaccuracies in spelling and word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'In this fast-growing world along with the technology population is also at its peak and people are facing problems related to housing.' However, punctuation errors are frequent, particularly missing commas after introductory phrases and run-on sentences. There are also grammatical errors such as 'rising number of population' (instead of 'growing population') and 'living in that areas' (plural/singular mismatch). Complex structures are often attempted but lack full control. These frequent minor errors and punctuation issues typify a Band 6 performance.
