Student answer (Band 6.0)
In myriad cities, new homes are needed to meet the growing popullation, due to to lack of spaces in urban jungles development is moving towards the countryside. Some individuals contend that new home construction should not be expanded towards the outskirts in order to preserve the environment. In my opinion, we should expand the housing infrastructure in a planned way so that I should harm the ecosystem.
To commence with, the main reason why the members of the society argue that it is vital to protect the countryside is that they believe unbanisation leads to pollution. To elaborate, since construction of homes will bring commercial services and factories, the overall population the will expand as more number of job seekers and homebuyers will try to relocate to a place with better opportunities. As a result, the emmisions from vehicles and industries will pollute the ecosystem. For example, a small town of Gurgaon is now a world class city becasue of the gowing population and job market. In a recent report published by the Environment Departs of India, Gurgaon topped the table of the most polluted cities in India.
In addition to this, increasing in the popullation will also boost criminal activities in the area. This means that with more homes and commercial shopping complex, intruders will have more opportunites commit a crime. For instance, in a survery from the Law Enforcement Depart of Canada, megacities like Toronto and Brampton accumulates more that half the total crime percentage in Onatrio. Although to tackle this situation the government can increase the police presence, there will still be some fear among the residents.
To conclude, this essay has discussed that due to raise in the pollution levels and crime some people believe that new homes should not be build in the countryside. In my opinion, the government and the planning department should first explore options to find spaces in the cities and prefer to constrct highrise residential units so it can accomodate large number of residents and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the debate around building homes in the countryside versus protecting the environment. A clear position is stated in the introduction, arguing for planned housing infrastructure. The main body paragraphs explore relevant ideas such as pollution caused by urbanisation and the potential increase in crime rates, supported by examples like Gurgaon and Canadian megacities. However, the conclusion is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, which prevents full development of the final thought. Despite this minor truncation, the core elements of the task are addressed adequately, placing this response at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is structured into paragraphs, starting with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph that unfortunately cuts off. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'In addition to this', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the progression of ideas, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Logical sequencing is generally maintained throughout the body, but referencing becomes slightly unclear at times, such as the pronoun confusion in the introduction where 'I should harm' likely meant 'it should not harm'. Overall coherence is acceptable for a Band 6.0 rating.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the topic, including terms like 'infrastructure', 'urbanisation', 'commercial services', and 'law enforcement'. However, there are numerous spelling and typographical errors throughout the text, such as 'popullation', 'to to', 'spaces', 'unbanisation', 'emmisions', 'becasue', 'gowing', 'Depart', 'opportunites', 'commit', 'survery', 'accumulates', and 'Onatrio'. While these errors do not severely impede communication because the context remains clear, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 6.5 or higher. The lexical control is characteristic of a solid Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, featuring subordinate clauses and conditional elements. There are instances of grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'due to to lack of spaces', 'the overall population the will expand', and the incomplete final sentence. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while errors in grammar and word forms exist, they rarely impede the overall flow of communication. The control of grammar aligns with the Band 6.0 descriptor.
