Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many places, new houses are needed, but the only space available for building them is in rural areas and many individuals think that it is more vital to protect the countryside and not build new homes there. Although this statement has numerous benefits still I believe that people who need homes are also very important.
On the one hand, there are strong arguements that it is important to protect the countryside and not build new houses there. The first and foremost reason is deforestation. If everyone who need home move to countyside areas to get new house then they will cut alot of trees and plants to make the land plain, which can cause deforestation. It direclty has a negative effect on our health like difficulty in breathing. Moreover, there may be chance of loss of peaceful life. As more houses in rural areas mens more people, traffic as well as pollution which can lead to loss of peaceful life.
On the other hand, I believe that people who need homes to live are also very crucial. So government have to provide them some land instead of establishing the large factories on it. Moreover home owners of city areas should provide their basement to people who need homes at resonable prices which will attract them more.
To conclude, even though I think that it is more important to protect the rural areas and not build new homes there but people who need homes to live their life is also important part which can not be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue—protecting the countryside versus the need for new homes—and provides a clear, albeit simple, personal opinion. The ideas presented in the body paragraphs are relevant, mentioning deforestation and loss of a peaceful life on one hand, and housing needs on the other. However, these ideas are somewhat under-developed and lack specific supporting examples from the writer's own knowledge or experience. The suggestion regarding homeowners renting basements, for instance, is slightly tangential to the main issue of rural development. Despite these limitations, the writer covers all parts of the task and maintains a consistent position throughout, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion appropriately. The writer attempts to guide the reader using standard cohesive devices and transition markers such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, some of the linking between sentences feels mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'instead of establishing the large factories on it'. Paragraph transitions could be smoother, but the logical progression is generally maintained throughout, supporting a score of 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas without significant hindrance. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary and phrases, such as 'deforestation', 'vital', and 'resonable' (spelling error for reasonable). However, word choice and collocations are at times awkward or imprecise, for example, 'mens more people' instead of 'means more people', and 'home owners of city areas'. Spelling errors, while present, do not impede communication. The lexical range is sufficient for a Band 6 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with varying degrees of accuracy. The writer successfully uses subordinate clauses, such as 'Although this statement has numerous benefits still I believe that...', though punctuation around connectors is occasionally faulty. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'everyone who need home move' instead of 'everyone who needs a home moves', and missing articles ('to get new house', 'provide them some land'). Nonetheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication, placing the grammar comfortably within the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, rounded to 6.0.
