Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the topic related to saving the countryside plays an important role in today's era. While some people believe that building homes is necessary in order to meet the demand of customers, Although some people believe that it is very important to save the countryside areas where homes are to be constructed. Today I am going to explain both of the opinions and give my opinion in the end.
To begin with, building homes is one of the part of improving the lifestyle and infrastructure of a country. Firstly, building homes in countryside areas or green areas not only provide personal homes to growing population, it also develops the roads, highways, water supply and many other things towards that area. For example, immigration in Canada has led to many people buying homes in Canada and there is lot of empty lands outside the metro cities and there are also many green areas which can be used for building homes, thus increasing infrastructure in Canada and also providing new job opportunities to our children in future.
On the other hand, many of the people argue that when homes are build many of the green areas are deserted and we cannot grow that many trees to ssome other areas in order to control the balanced nature for the trees and oxygen. Furthermore, it also takes a lot of time for a tree to grow and it is very easy to get rid of the green belts and areas with a lot of trees. Although, some of the people also believe that why to construct homes for immigrants if they already have homes in their home countries.
In my opinion, I believe that it is very necessary for us to build and construct homes in countryside areas in order to improve the infrastructure, GDP, job opportunities for growing population and also for our country to grow and create a wealth enough to support during the war times and also in times or calamities.
In conclusion, I would like to say that both of the opinions and evaluated properly and it is very important for our country to grow and building homes plays an important role in order to improve the GDP of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the need for new homes and the importance of protecting the countryside, and a clear position is presented. Ideas are generally relevant, such as discussing infrastructure development, population growth, and environmental concerns. However, some arguments are under-developed or repetitive, particularly the points regarding immigration and economic growth, which wander slightly from the core issue of land use. Furthermore, there are structural issues in the introduction, such as the fragmented sentence starting with "Although some people believe...", which stalls the opening thesis. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, earning a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion adequately. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as "To begin with", "On the other hand", and "In my opinion". However, referencing and logical flow are occasionally compromised by awkward phrasing and repetitive transitional markers. For instance, the transition between sentences in the second body paragraph feels slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is present and logically structured around different viewpoints, but the overall progression of ideas sometimes lacks smooth cohesion, placing this comfortably at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as "infrastructure", "calamities", and "immigration". However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text. For example, "meet the demand of customers" should be "meet housing demand", "balanced nature for the trees" is unnatural, and phrases like "create a wealth enough" contain grammatical/lexical friction. Spelling and word formation are generally acceptable, but frequent minor lexical inaccuracies and circumlocutions prevent the score from reaching a higher band. This represents a solid Band 6.0 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in clause structure and preposition usage, such as "building homes is one of the part of improving" (plural/singular mismatch), "homes are build" (passive voice error), and "why to construct homes" (faulty interrogative structure). Punctuation and run-on sentences also require attention, notably in the overly long compound sentences in the third paragraph. While communication is not impeded, the frequency of grammatical slips keeps the response at a Band 5.5 level.
