Student answer (Band 4.5)

to be very honest i also don'nt want that side area should be constructed and build new houses and resturants there because natural ecosystem is the main reason to control many dizastereds that are in the form of floods and climatic changes

if we go several years ago when the flood came in pakistan in 2024 the main reason of the flood was the cutting of trees and constrution of new hotel and resturants there so when the flood came there it also cover the side area as well as the cities area because trees control many floods. but in pakistan there is a rapid change in clamatic changes due to many deforestation in many cities so it directly effect the human health as well as for the living organisms that are living in the water because there there is to much deforestation there will diffentily clamatic changes and as i told before that to many chance of floods can be there so when the dirty water o the floods will came into there river it will direct inpact the living organisims that are living in the water. and the other reason we should not build houses in side areas because side area are the main beauty of the country which will deffentely attract people to come there and enjoy the nature there so it will help in the econimic growth of the country and as result there government will instal more trees and the sided area will convert to a beatiful place

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building homes in the countryside, supporting it with reasons related to environmental protection, natural ecosystems, and economic benefits from tourism. However, the ideas are presented in a somewhat repetitive and over-generalized manner, particularly regarding the example of the floods in Pakistan. While the main position is clear and supported with a relevant personal and real-world example, the development lacks depth and structured argumentation, placing the response comfortably within the Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The entire response is written as a single, massive run-on sentence without any paragraph breaks, punctuation, or capitalisation. There is a complete lack of formal organisational structure, and cohesive devices are virtually absent apart from basic conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. The progression of ideas is obscured by the lack of boundaries between sentences and paragraphs. This severely impacts the overall readability and cohesion, corresponding closely to the Band 4 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples include 'dizastereds' instead of disasters, 'constrution' instead of construction, 'clamatic' instead of climatic, and 'econimic' instead of economic. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas, though noticeable errors and non-standard forms cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the response at Band 4.5, rounded to Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the text. The entire essay consists of one long compound-complex structure linked by coordinating conjunctions without any terminal punctuation. There are numerous grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('side area should be constructed', 'dirty water o the floods will came'), incorrect preposition use, and severe punctuation failures. The lack of basic sentence boundaries and frequent errors that distort meaning align with the Band 4 descriptors.
