Student answer (Band 5.5)
Increase in population changes the structure of land globally. There are many countries in which the government starts to promote the buildings and apartments. The reasons behind this is mainly population. Protecting the rural is significant but the priority should be the well-being of citizens. Numerous individuals are not promoting these new structures. Although this factor has some merits, it might has demerits also. From my perspective both issues are valid but these shoud have some limitations.
Primarily, population raise the demand of new home. Making new homes for the public in countryside is not bad, however it should be allow when needs arise. For instance, nowadays many investors want to purchase the property in such areas for business and renting to needy people. This create the problems. For this reason, there is shortage of space.
Secondly, for tackel this challenge, the government should making the policies for well-being of the citizen. For example, they can give house loan for new home buyer. This can improve the adjustment of population. Moreover, policy makers should impose the higher taxes for buying the second property. Therefore, this may protect the space in countryside, only needy people will use that area.
Eventually, this is not negative aspect to use the green belts for housing. population increase globally, consequently this impacts every country in many ways. The empty land area is not giving benefit to people. If it will develop, then it will be benefical for any country in term of job opportunity, and it will boosts the economy of a country. Developed country might improve the way of living, and due to this the public don't need to go abroad for better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially, as the position is not always clearly sustained and some ideas remain limited and under-developed. While the student expresses a viewpoint that protecting the countryside is important but must be balanced with the well-being of citizens, the arguments provided lack sufficient extension. For instance, the mention of investors purchasing property for business creates a relevant point, but it is not fully explored or linked logically to the overall discussion on countryside protection. Similarly, the conclusion touches upon economic benefits and job opportunities, yet these points are presented abruptly without supporting examples or deeper explanation. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported ideas throughout all body paragraphs, avoiding generalisations and providing clearer evidence or examples for every main point raised.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with a clear introduction and conclusion, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct sections for different arguments, yet the logical transitions between paragraphs are often weak or disjointed. For example, moving from the discussion of housing demand in the second paragraph to government policies in the third paragraph feels somewhat abrupt. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or repetitive, with simple connectors like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Eventually' used mechanically rather than flexibly. Referencing can also be unclear, as seen with pronouns like 'this' or 'these' where the antecedent noun is ambiguous. To improve, the writer should focus on creating smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that every idea flows logically into the next to establish a clearer progression of thought.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic ideas about urbanisation and countryside development. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'population raise' instead of 'population rise', 'protect the rural' instead of 'protect rural areas', and 'making the policies' instead of 'making policies' or 'formulating policies'. Additionally, terms like 'needy people' are repeated frequently where alternatives like 'low-income families' or 'homebuyers' would be more precise. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'economic' and 'opportunity', but accuracy remains an issue. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range, demonstrate greater precision in word choice and collocations, and minimise errors in word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty and distraction for the reader. Notable issues include subject-verb agreement errors such as 'this creates the problems' and 'this may protect', tense and modal verb errors like 'it might has demerits', article omissions such as 'in term of job opportunity', and prepositional errors like 'for tackel this challenge'. Complex sentence structures often break down due to clumsy phrasing and incorrect clause linking. To progress, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex structures, pay closer attention to basic rules of subject-verb agreement, verb complementation, and article usage, and ensure careful proofreading to eliminate frequent grammatical slips.
