Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern world, housing is becoming a debateable question day by day. Altough some individuals argue that the space in rural areas is availabe for housing needs yet others believe that it is vital to protect the rural regions from construction. I agree with the opinion that protecting countryside is more importanat rather than building homes for personal needs.

To begin with, less construction of houses in cities is lead to protection of wildlife. It is widely acknowledge that if individuals build houses in countryside then it causes to destroy of tress and natural habitats. animals lost thier houses. For instance, recent study says that In 2024, most of the animals lost thier houses as builders contruct thier homes in thier areas. Therefore, people should protect the rural areas from housing.

Primarly, protect land for agriculture is another point to preserve the rural regions. There is no doubt that if individuals build houses on this land that there is no space left for agriculture. they do not have enough space to grow food which leads to scarcity of food in that area. As a result, public should focus on protecting the countryside instead of building more houses.

In conclusion,I firmly believe that peopel should more focus on preserving the countryside rather than building more houses in rural areas beacuse it helps to protect the wildlife and more space for agriculture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you support protecting the countryside, and you give two relevant reasons—preserving wildlife and retaining land for agriculture. These points address the question, but they are only briefly explained. For example, the wildlife paragraph makes a general claim and offers a vague “recent study” without identifying a source or explaining the impact in detail; the agriculture point also needs a specific example or fuller explanation of how building would affect food supply. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. It also contains 231 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a credible, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “For instance,” and “As a result” help readers follow the main sequence. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-level expectations, and the paragraphing is appropriate. To make the progression more consistently clear, improve how ideas connect within paragraphs: the shift from “less construction of houses in cities” to building in the countryside is confusing, and “Primarly” introduces a second point without clearly linking it to the first. Some transitions feel formulaic, while references such as “this land” could be more precise. Use links that show the relationship between claims and explanations, rather than relying mainly on set phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a limited but relevant range of vocabulary, including “wildlife,” “natural habitats,” “agriculture,” and “scarcity of food,” which helps communicate your main arguments. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the message: examples include “debateable,” “availabe,” “thier,” and “contruct.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “housing needs” in this context and “causes to destroy of.” Repetition of “build houses,” “countryside,” and “protect” further limits the range. Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe the loss of habitats directly and use more precise terms for development and land use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer conditional sentences, such as “if individuals build houses in countryside then it causes to destroy of…” This shows an effort to vary sentence forms, but complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “less construction of houses in cities is lead to protection” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “animals lost their houses” does not clearly express the intended general consequence. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “protect land for agriculture” and the lowercase “they” after a full stop. Practise building accurate sentences with “if” clauses and cause-and-effect structures, then check verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
