Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, use of countryside area to build new houses has become an increasingly important issue in many places while, some people believe that this should not happen to protect our natural suburbs. According to me, it is essential to save rural areas from getting destroyed and preserve our natural resources. This essay will explain reasons for my view.
To begin with, the most important factor is destruction of the natural ecosystem. This is primarily because constructuion of new houses lead to demolition of forests and cutting down of thousands of trees. As a result, lots of wildlife will loss its habitat will be negatively impact ecosystem of the enviorment. For example, forests provide livelihood to millions of animals and cutting down forests will lead to these organisms losing their lives and families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your position is clear: you believe rural areas should be protected, and you give a relevant reason by explaining that housing construction can destroy forests and wildlife habitats. The example about animals losing their homes supports this view. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not develop a second reason, consider the need for new homes, or provide a fuller example. The essay also ends after the first supporting point, so the argument is incomplete. It is 116 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to explain and support your opinion. To strengthen the response, develop several reasons and explain how they justify your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your opinion, followed by a paragraph giving a reason and an example. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “As a result” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, there is no concluding paragraph, and the argument stops before a clear overall progression can be established. Some links are also unclear: “will loss its habitat will be negatively impact” makes the relationship between the effects difficult to follow. Build a complete sequence of paragraphs—position, developed reasons, and conclusion—and use linking expressions only where they accurately show how one idea relates to another.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “natural ecosystem,” “rural areas,” “natural resources,” and “habitat,” which helps communicate the subject of environmental protection. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “increasingly important issue.” However, several word choices, forms, and spellings are inaccurate or awkward, including “natural suburbs,” “constructuion,” “enviorment,” and “forests provide livelihood.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, refer to “the natural environment” and say that forests “provide habitats for wildlife.” A broader range of precise vocabulary would also help you explain the housing-versus-conservation issue.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “This is primarily because…” and a result clause introduced by “As a result.” The opening also tries to combine contrasting views with “while.” However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms make parts of the response difficult to understand. For instance, “construction of new houses lead to demolition” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “wildlife will loss its habitat will be negatively impact” combines incompatible verb forms and clauses. The opening punctuation around “while” is also faulty. Practise building complete clauses with one clear subject and verb, then check agreement and tense before adding a second clause.
