Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the cutting edge era, large number of people are lived in metropolitan areas and cities are becoming overcrowded. There is a shortage of houses in urban areas. Therefore, more residential properties are required, while land available for contruction them is in the countryside area. However, some individuals believe that it is crucial to save the rural areas and do not build new houses over there. This essay is an attempt to analyze whether the development of new houses in the rural regions is beneficial or not in the up coming paragraphs.
To commence with, it is easy understand why the countryside area should be protected. Firstly, rural areas provide natural habitats fo multifarious species of animals and plants. Building houses, roads and other facilities can destroy these habitats and reduce biodivesity. Secondly, rural area plays an important role in food production and maintaining a healthy environment. if agricultural land is used housing, farmers may have less space to grow crops which could affect food supplies in the future. Moreover , green spaces help reduce air pollution and provide peaceful environment to relax.
On the other hand, the growing population has created a serious shortage of housing in many cities. As a result, house prices and rental costs have inclined significantly which making it difficult for many people to find suitable accommodation. Building new houses in rural areas can solve this issue and people can get proper space for their family. In addition to this, people who are lived in rural areas can get easy access of several facilities such as hospital, education, roads and so on which improve their living standads. Despite of it, they can get number of job opporunities during and after construction of the new apartments.
In the final analysis, although new houses are essential to meet the growing demand for housing, I believe that protecting the countryside is more important in the long term. Government should focus on existing urban land efficiently and allow rural constructiononly when it is necessary.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address both sides of the issue and state a clear position in the conclusion: protecting the countryside is more important in the long term, while rural building may be allowed when necessary. The discussion of habitats, food production and housing costs is relevant, and you explain how these concerns matter. This meets the task well. However, some supporting points are asserted rather than fully developed. For example, the claim that rural construction gives existing rural residents better access to hospitals and education needs a clearer explanation of how new housing would provide those services. The employment point is also brief. Develop these examples with a specific consequence or illustration, and connect them more directly to your final position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons to protect rural land, a contrasting paragraph on housing needs, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In the final analysis” help readers follow the argument. The contrast between environmental protection and housing demand is easy to identify. At times, however, linking feels formulaic, and some connections between claims are not fully explained. For instance, the move from rural housing to improved access to hospitals and education would benefit from an explicit link showing why development would bring those facilities. Use transitions selectively and make the relationship between each supporting point and the paragraph’s main idea clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “natural habitats,” “biodiversity,” “agricultural land,” “food supplies,” and “rental costs.” These choices allow you to discuss environmental and housing concerns, and some less common terms show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “prices … have inclined,” “get easy access of,” and “a number of job opportunities during and after construction.” There are also spelling errors, including “contruction,” “biodivesity,” and “standads.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Check collocations and spelling carefully, and prefer natural phrasing such as “have risen” and “gain access to.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “which,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. Examples include “people are lived” and “people who are lived,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “which making it difficult,” where the clause needs a finite verb. In “if agricultural land is used housing,” the grammatical pattern requires a preposition before “housing.” Capitalisation after a full stop is also inconsistent, as in “if agricultural land.” Review verb forms and clause structure, then proofread for articles and punctuation; this will make your varied sentences more controlled.
